Re: Tutorial: Webstreams, lossless conversion; editing with Avidemux

If you're encoding your videos (for example MPEG2 to MP4) with Avidemux, you can cut on every frame. Only the first cut in the video must be on an I-frame. If you're using Avidemux in "copy-mode", then you are limited to cut on I-frames only. I would highly recommend to use the stable 2.5.x versions of Avidemux. The 2.6.x versions of Avidemux are still "buggy beasts", but can handle MPEG4 significantly better than the 2.5 versions. One advantage ok, but I'm not sure that it's helpful when the application crashes all the time... Big Grin
I am using the latest 2.5.6-build for Arch-Linux and it runs "rockstable". It's my favourite software to edit/cut and encode videos and so far I had never any problems with it. I even edit my ETV-Videos with Avidemux and sometimes there are between 150-200 cuts necessary (because of the very "nervous camerawork") - no problem at all for Avidemux.

Please open the preferences-tab audio and select the correct sound-server & audio-output on your system!

Not sure if thats what you mean:

You should cut only on I-Frames (Frame Type). If you use the arrows marked as "1", you can navigate to every sub-frame, the arrows
marked "2" only steer to I-frames. The slide-control also brings you to I-frames.
When Avidemux saves/renders your video, it creates a new frametable automatically.

The Avidemux is quite unstable on Windowns Sad . This is just my own experience and maybe someone else works without freezing...
Actually I never had that kind of problem with Avidemux.
OK, I'm using an old version (2.5) because the new ones can't create .ts files anymore (OK, I don't use it for video editing, but I can fix damaged recordings in most cases with it), maybe they made also other things worse.

Basically the Avidemux is a great program Thumb up. And the interface is nicer / friendlier than VirtualDub.

Anyway I am looking forward to your first yummy videos Tongue Big Grin.

Re: Tutorial: Webstreams, lossless conversion; editing with Avidemux

Here's an useful and easy to understand tutorial how to use RTMPDumpHelper:

[hidden link - please register]

Please read it carefully!

Important/Known issues:

1. When using Chrome Web browser, you'll see some 'Failed to attach to Web browser' messages, but the RTMP downloading will work properly
2. You can also use this tool on x64 systems, but the Web browser itself must be a 32-bit application. In the future, I'll probably release x64 version of RTMPDumpHelper to work with 64-bit Web browsers.
3. When the proxy of RTMPDump toolkit (rtmpsuck.exe) saves .flv file into your hard drive, the filename is created without .flv file extension. This means that you may need to manually change the file extension to .flv in order to play the file in your default video player.

"32/64bit process mismatch" - Please make sure you have the 32bit version of Google Chrome installed on your system!
