47 infants (toddlers ) die in bus accident in Egypt
In the Egyptian province of Assiut are at least fifty people, almost all toddlers killed by a collision between a train and a school bus.The children were 4-8 years old. In the bus were sixty children. There were 18 wounded. The site of the accident is about 350 kilometers south of Cairo, at the place Manfalut. By the force of the collision the bus broke in two pieces.
Witnesses said that the gates were open when the bus drove onto the level crossing. The railway worker who had to operate the barrier had fallen asleep and was arrested, police said. Parents of the children answered according an agent to the death penalty for the staf member .The Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi has ordered the government "all possible help to give''.too the families of the victims According to state media, Transport Minister Rashad al-Metini resigned as the head of the Egyptian Railway Authority.A few hours later, near the Egyptian capital, at least 12 people died at a bus crash. A minibus with fifteen passengers collided with a truck that was driving on the wrong lane.

My condolence goes out to too the fathers and mothers of these infants/toddlers , family and friends !!!

And than to think that some of us are fighting here on the forum with words or whatever here against eachother or complaining of shows while there are more serious things going on in the world Sad . Ofcourse accidents/crashes happens almost everyone ( actualy everyday ) ,but when it involves toddlers or children it is more heart breaking than with adults Sad !!!

Shaky

Re: News from the World

What was so astonishing about the us election this year is that .....How the coalition of the minorities in the united states ...black votes , latino votes , youth votes ....have helped him to breakthrough the brick wall of the White vote and pushes him over the top .

But just how could you end up bring them all in the one direction.....And meanwhile meet all the different interests for all those different minorities... Which might could be contradictory and opposing to each others...

That's how a real politician could be.

Re: News from the World

Nov4, 1923

Alfred Henry (Freddy) Heineken (November 4, 1923, Amsterdam, Netherlands – January 3, 2002, Noordwijk, Netherlands) was a Dutch major stock holder and president of Heineken International, the brewing company bought in 1864 by his grandfather Gerard Adriaan Heineken in Amsterdam.

He entered the service of the company (which by then was no longer owned by the family) on 1 June 1941 and bought back stock several years later, to ensure the family controlled the company again. He created the Heineken Holding that owned 50.005% of Heineken International; he personally held a majority stake in Heineken Holding.

By the time of his resignation as chairman of the board in 1989 he had transformed Heineken from a brand that was known chiefly in the Netherlands to a brand that is currently famous worldwide.

Re: nov4,1966 Florence, Italy

5,000 families were left homeless by the storm, and 6,000 stores were forced out of business. Approximately 600,000 tons of mud, rubble and sewage severely damaged or destroyed numerous collections of the written work and fine art for which Florence is famous. In fact, it is estimated that between 3 and 4 million books/manuscripts were damaged, as well as 14,000 movable works of art.

It was reported that 101 people lost their lives in the flood waters.

nov4,1966 Florence, Italy

3 November 1966

After a long period of steady rain, the Levane and La Penna dams in Valdarno began to emit more than 2,000 cubic metres (71,000 cu ft) of water per second toward Florence. At 2:30 pm, the Civil Engineering Department reported "'an exceptional quantity of water.'" Cellars in the Santa Croce and San Frediano areas began to flood. Police received calls for assistance from villagers up the Arno Valley. The flood's first victim, a 52 year old workman, died while trying to reach a crumbling aqueduct.

4 November 1966

At 4:00 am, engineers, fearing that the Valdarno dam would burst, discharged a mass of water that eventually reached the outskirts of Florence at a rate of 60 kilometres per hour (37 mph). At 7:26 am, the Lungarno delle Grazie cut off gas, electricity and water supplies to affected areas. By 8:00 am, army barracks were flooded. By 9:00 am, hospital emergency generators (the only source of electrical power remaining) failed. Landslides obstructed roads leading to Florence, while narrow streets within city limits funneled floodwaters, increasing their height and velocity. By 9:45 am, the Piazza del Duomo was flooded. The powerful waters ruptured central heating oil tanks, and the oil mixed with the water and mud, causing greater damage. Florence was divided in two, and officials were unable to immediately reach citizens of the city past the Piazza Michelangelo. At its highest, the water reached over 6.7 metres (22 ft) in the Santa Croce area. By 8:00 pm, the water began to lower.
