Another week in Barbieland

Firstly welcome back to Kiara and Madlen, and sorry to see Kia go.

DB was absolutely right to urge the exercising of caution in any optimism – and not just on technical and creative grounds: more totally soft shows on ETV2, unwatchable shows where the models think it’s OK to sit around talking to each other for five hours. Sure, there are very few phone calls, but if they worked a bit harder, maybe someone might just ring in. If my employees did as little as some of the newer girls, they wouldn’t last long. Again, ETV, who is in charge?

Out of the six models mentioned favourably in dispatches last week: Aria continued to deliver the goods; Carolina has, it seems, gone.  She certainly left the studio last Sunday at a rate of knots; after one uncomfortable strip Danya has decided that she prefers to go back to covering up; Gia suddenly and inexplicably became passive and glum for two days, then livened up midway through Saturday’s show, writhing about on a bed and trying very hard to expose all of her considerable breasts. Unfortunately 21st century bra technology won – more or less; Sesil and Venera didn’t manage to go topless for more than a couple of minutes during the whole week. In a normal business you’d expect this sort of thing to be carefully planned in strategy meetings, but it’s hard to work out whether ETV has a strategy at all, let alone meetings. I could only find one who pushed her boundaries this week – Zia removed her bra a couple of times but didn’t show a lot.   And I don't want  to be unkind, but what is the point of Britney and Vaya in front of the camera??

I don’t know whether shares in Mattel Inc. are obtainable on the home country stock exchange, but if they are you could be forgiven for thinking that ETV had bought a large chunk. The maker of the Barbie should indeed be doing well. In fact, a new record this week. Of the 57 models currently working on camera at ETV, 32 are “hot” (56%), 7 are “soft” (12%), and the rest (32%) are Barbie i.e. show nothing at all. This last group is increasing all the time. Draw your own conclusions. Even the percentage of “hot” models is misleading; the numbers might be there, but not the quality of some of those who have left.

One way or another ETV will be different in six months’ time. Perhaps Ken will come to find his Barbie……. He’ll certainly have plenty of choice.

Look what I found. Way back, but still the same debate rages on. I think DB is not far of the mark with his answer.

Yep. And take a look at Elmos video [hidden link - please register] to remind yourself what happens when my favorit model is trying to do a good show (take a look at her face when she is looking up at the monitor).

A good point HvB. Every caller should always have in mind that by calling the models he also supports the nonsense staff like Shamus, mixers, ... I'd prefer that ETV models would get paid better, and instead ETV should get rid of dispensive staff mentioned above. Because by using all these stupid effects these employees work against making ETV a pleasure to watch.

Re: Another week in Barbieland

Well, some fine analysis, but as a caller I also have some personal choice and for quite some time i choose to be a non caller, because the number of models I would like to talk to is constantly decreasing and there are a lot of folks whos wages I don't wanna pay (moderators, directors, vision mixers, most of the camera people, Shamus, ...).

Re: Another week in Barbieland

You put a lot of work into your posts so they do deserve some response.

The are two very important words that sping to mind here - and if you had been watching ETV as long as I have you could appreciate them. I say 'could' because many have been watching for almost as long and just do not get it.

The words are Personal Choice. What I am saying is that it's the decision of the girl of what she shows.

I'll put it another way. If you go to work, do you have the same emotions every single day ? Is your entusiasm for your work always the same. A shift at ETV is no different.

The job of an ETV model is quite simple and complex at the same time. The aim is to keep the caller on the line for as long as possible. For some callers, all they want to do is talk and not expect the girl to do anything. Here IMO is the philosophy behind the Barbie. Guys, who could be shy to talk dirty, will be more comfortable talking to a pretty girl who is prepapred to listen.

Shows are not IMO judged on how 'hot' they are but on how much money is generated.

Now there is one problem. If certain callers tune in to whatever channel and just see girls sitting around, they go away to find something 'better'. There are times when the director/moderator will attempt to move the show along to encourage the calls - after all their continued employment also depends on the calls - but there is a danger that if you give too much then the calls will not come anyway because those callers have got it for free.

It's hard to strike a perfect balance. There will be many poor shows with a few better ones to compensate. Yet it is a testament that they are still here after 3 years that they must, overall, be doing something right.
