I believe that ETV is in great crisis, the last shows except some exception have been a disaster, last night scandalous (and from your comments I also believe in the week end). Tonight 3 models soft from which there is no anything to wait him, tomorrow night 4 only models and Thursday straight 3 (among which lace and cleopatra...) and this only for the night shows, the cast of the day is reduced even more... If this continues soon ETV close...

This thread has developed into a discussion of Astra/ FTA channels etc... I will still stick to my original post about ETV crises ! I know some of you don't agree (just saw todays updates in the general discussion) I saw some educated replies about the cost of a model vs the cost of the satellite uplink and that I have no idea how many calls they receive as I don't have access to their CRM (my interpretation) application. I read that its probably due to the models vacation (could be) etc... So I'll tell you this I still stick to what I see and hear and it has not changed in the past weeks since I have posted my original post.
I am sure many of you have a lot of statistics about each model performance her rank in the model page and the number of models in each show since 1900 , well I don't have such a good memory and I don't bother to document it .. So back to facts that one sees : 1. Yes they have returned to the original model count (If I am not wrong there were days in the after hour show they had only one model) but now I see 2 in the after hours 3 in the morning 4 in the afternoon and 6 the late night show . I will guess the reason that they raised the number of models in the past was not to support the employment figures of Molvenia but because there was a genuine need due to amount of calls/sms's and for the same reason someone has decided the reduce the number of models probably for the same reason amount of calls/sms but this time due to a negative trend. 2. Although it appears I l watch a lot ETV I don't as I don't have the night time available ( i prefer to sleep) I do on the other hand watch more during the weekend and what I hear at least from the Italian mods is the number of free models with no calls and there are many times which the mod is stating that all the lines are clear - So to my educated scholar who asked how do I know ? the answer is simple the moderator is telling us .. Now I am pretty sure that we don't have a case where the call center takes the call and don't transfer it to a model but decides to take the call her/him self . Also it looks as if the amount of SMS's have decreased and some of them are being repeated So at least to my humble opinion ETV looks as if they are in a junction/crises and as far as i recall things used to be better before the summer vacation.... |

May be it is stupid answer ( But I have Hotbird)
Why not ETV encrypt the channel in ASTRA and charge a ridiculous amount for the card Say 10 Euros. This way they can 1. Claim that they are not offering FTA channel. 2. They do not have to restrict the eroticism as this is not FTA channel. No f***ker can make compalint against the channel. 3. They can show nudity during day time. ( I do not know the law) May be stupid solution but is it worth a try if no other option is available. |

You know ever since ETV came about it has been in a state of crises. I guess it will be untill the day it stops.
It seems politicians facing real problems in the world which they are unable to get a grip on or in some cases even understand rather turn to issues they can handle instead of trying to do what is neccesary. It is in my opinion ludicrous to have regulation about nudity on tv when you have nudity everywhere else. From a library to the beach, from the countryside to the disco everybody seems to try be as nude as possible. Most people should however from estetic point of view stay dressed at all times in the public place, at least you can turn of your TV if you are bothered. |

You are a lucky man , in our city are new restrictions!! NO dishes at the frontside of your house . ( I have a house of my own) At the backside , you can do it , if you get permission . It may NOT be sightable from the street . I can place it in the garden BUT only 3 mtrs high ( inclusive the height of dish!!!) The appartments have to put them IN the balcony. This is only the beginning , I think . Even the outlets of airco's have the same ristrictions !! This is since July 1 !!! What next ? greetings |

Astra2 will be affected in the same way as Astra at 19, Eurobird is part of the Eutelsat group as is Hotbird so any ruling to one will apply to the other. Why Eurobird with a strong Hotbird there is no advantage for European mainland this position is for UK. As far as I am aware good reception only possible in the west of Germany. The remainder requires big dishes and suffers from bad weather problems. Anybody who receives this signal can add some practical comments to this . |

So actually the regulation in the French broadcasting law, that helped clean Hotbird, has been transfered in the EU directive. As etv is licensed in a EU member state, it is more difficult to take it offline. The other states don't have the power to take it offline directly, they may complain to the license issuer, who in response has to investigate and, if the program is found to violate EU regulations, has to act accordingly, even if there is no violation of the local media laws. |

I don't think he will be happy if I tell him I need Hotbird, because this would cause a lot of construction costs. I could opt for attaching my own dish to the house, but this would require the permission of the owner, and if he doesn't like the idea, I would need to sue him - which I don't want. So when ETV is closed down on ASTRA, it's almost inevitable that it will lose a significant amount of viewers. I remember the discussion about the Hotbird situation in Italy, where the owners of some SKY boxes couldn't receive the new frequency. It would be real easy to buy an additional inexpensive free-to-air box just for ETV - much easier than attaching a second LNB to a dish. Yet still many viewers didn't seem to go for that. |
