Its has been ages since I last wrote something in this forum...... I must agree 100% with malmaisons's observation the color and sharpness of the picture are appalling. In fact the picture looks pale nearly dead Its in the same quality like the 2-3 shows the transmitted from the infamous pool somewhere back in September.....Maybe if the color of the curtains was different it had a better effect,I am no expert but for sure the feed is not transmitted directly but instead it goes into some PC intervention , in some cases there is some audio synchronization problems. Yes the 4:3 quality was much better although i am surprised to hear that this also happens on Astra. I was sure that at least for Western Europe they will do better as they usually do. For years in my eyes one of their cameras is shotting better videos than the others.
BTW now that they transmit in 16:9 why is there still a need to keep the black bars the used for simulating 16:9 when they actually were in 4:3 ?

malmaisons wrote:I could live with that if not the setup of the crane cam was so totally different from the others ...

the light & the dark cam are an etv special effect since years (take a look at the caps of the models page).
no idea why nobody thinks about a calibration of the cams for a better picture quality and better shows. Confused

I could live with that if not the setup of the crane cam was so totally different from the others ... colors, contrast, sharpness ... this spoils the positive impression.
But I really doubt that they will notice it - after they started to take models as camera women and directors .... Confused

I tried to adjust my tv settings for several days now - picture is still blurry (more or less - depending on the cam they use) and the colors are 'washed out' with a touch of pink and grey ... in fact the picture quality was much better in the days of 4:3.
I watched some DELS today and the colors were ok - must be a satellite fta issue Confused
... I even switched over to Babestation24 to refresh my eyes Cool

There's not much you can do to improve image quality, because of ETV method 50i of blending both fields into field 1 and then repeat it for field 2 (that's where the blurring occurs, their version of progressive) whilst keeping the graphics interlaced. When they were 4\3 they kept everything interlaced.

some shows are with brilliant picture quality Thumb up and some shows are pure shit like washing clothes of all colours at 90° in the washing machine. Thumb down
in general I'd say that the interesting shows are with Thumb down quality and the unintersting shows with Thumb up quality.
I still assume that it depends on the different competence teams of etv and so it seems that one crew knows how to use light & camera while the other crew knows how to make a show.
unlikely that there will be an exchange between the crews and any improvement in shows and picture quality. Confused

According to the song, video killed the radio star .Looking at the way etv fta shows are going,
the webshows are gradually killing off etv fta.

The color management sucks (somewhat grey skin tone), bad contrast, the picture is still blurry when they are zooming out and the studio looks like pure depression - a torture for those who have to stay there for 5 hours ...

the picture quality on thursday was much better or seemed to be much better while watching fast forward.
maybe it depends on which competence team is active in the studio.
I'd assume that everyone of the camera staff prefers his/ her own settings and as know most of them have no idea about their job. Confused
thursday was brilliant Thumb up and last night was Kermit the frog. Thumb down

Exactly!
Because the hotbird stream has still this black borders Thumb down , I have to go into my receiver settings everytime I want to see ETV on Astra! Angry I really hope they fix it asap!

Astra now: still 720x576 with 4:3 aspect ratio and only 250 kbps bitrate (has anybody the old data?)

Hotbird now: 544x576 with 16:9 aspect ratio and 281 kbps bitrate

This say my SAT receiver.
I can't see an improvement of the picture quality and the studio can't be serious the new one! I refuse to believe that! Thumb down

This is, what my receiver said yesterday evening:

Blah, Blah

Looks like SO gave them a nudge as Astra sat stream now flagged as 16/9. They should of known this before the aspect ratio change.

and a praise to the one who told them to remove all advertisement and sms. Tongue
