Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro - Men' s Singles : Gold Medal Match : Scottish player Andy Murray (2) won his second consecutive Olympic gold medal, defeating Argentinian Juan Martin Del Potro 7-5, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 after 4h 04'; first set began with a break for Murray (2-0), Del Potro immediately broke him back, but he lost again his serve the very next game, managing to break again the Scottish on 2-4, but losing for the third time his serve on 5-6; second set was decided by an only break for the Argentinian in first game, kept till the final 6-4; third set was dominated by Murray, who broke twice Del Potro, in 6th and 8th game; fourth set began with 4 four breaks in the first 4 games, then Del Potro broke Del Murray on 3-3 and served for the set on 5-4, but the Scottish broke him twice, winning the gold medal

Bronze medal was won by Japanese player Kei Nishikori (4), who defeated Spanish Rafael Nadal (3) 6-2, 6-7 (1), 6-3

Women' s Singles : Big surprise in women' s singles Olympic tournament : Monica Puig won the gold medal defeating world' s N° 2 Angelique Kerber 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 after 2h 12', bringing the first Olympic gold medal ever to her country, Puerto Rico; in first set, after two breaks in the first two games, Puig made the deciding break on 5-4; in second set Kerber broke Puig in first game, but she was broken back in 8th game, then Puig lost again her serve and the German player closed the set 6-4; third set was dominated by Puig, who went 5-0 and closed the match 6-1.
Bronze medal was won by Czech player Petra Kvitova (11), who defeated American Madison Keys (7) 7-5, 2-6, 6-2
