Re: Sports in general.

- Novak Djokovic will return '# 1 world ranking in tennis next week and will stay there' til the end of the year. He pointed out the ATP. To pave the way for the withdrawal of the Serbian # 1 Roger Federer from the Masters 1000 Paris-Bercy, the ninth and final round of the season. The Swiss champion, can not 'then defend the title won last year and the points in the standings. This 'will imply' overtaking in the top of the rankings.

Re: Sports in general. MLB playoff

Detroit Tigers - SanFrancisco Giants 3-4 (10 innings)

SF wins the world series 4-0

The Giants stifled the Tigers throughout the Fall Classic, and they allowed two homers but little else in Game 4 before Marco Scutaro's go-ahead hit in the 10th. Buster Posey went deep, and San Francisco got no-hit relief after Matt Cain's solid start to win its second title in three years.

Re: Sports in general. MLB playoff

Finals, game3:

Detroit Tigers - SanFrancisco Giants 0-2
SF leads 3-0... Unstoppable???

The Giants kept stifling the Tigers, with Ryan Vogelsong working out of jams for 5 2/3 frames, and Tim Lincecum and Sergio Romo finishing the shutout. Gregor Blanco's RBI triple and Brandon Crawford's RBI single were enough as San Francisco moved to within a win of the Series title.

It's amazing how they have conceded just 4 RBi (including only 1 homerun) in the last 6 matches..

SanFrancisco Giants - Detroit Tigers 2-0
SF leads now 2-0 (5 win in a row)

After Madison Bumgarner cruised for seven, the Giants chased Doug Fister and set up Game 2's first run with a bunt that rolled just fair. Hunter Pence, who scored the run, added a sac fly, and two relievers finished off a two-hit shutout of Detroit, giving San Francisco a 2-0 Series lead.

Finals, game 1:

SanFrancisco Giants - Detroit Tigers 8-3

The Giants wasted little time against Justin Verlander, as Pablo Sandoval went deep off the Tigers' ace in the first. Sandoval hit two more homers, including a two-run shot off Verlander in the third. Barry Zito tossed 5 2/3 frames of one-run ball, and San Francisco's 'pen sealed Game 1.

Re: Sports in general. cycling_doping

“Lance Armstrong has no place in cycling,” UCI president Pat McQuaid said. In accepting the USADA's decision to ban Armstrong, the UCI has wiped out nearly over a decade of results and changed cycling history.

"Armstrong deserves to be forgotten in cycling now,” McQuaid said at a press conference in Geneva Monday midday.

Armstrong was given a lifetime ban and was stripped of all his results from August 1, 1998, including his seven Tour de France titles. Armstrong chose not to challenge the USADA charges of doping throughout his career.

Other titles he will lose include: Tour de Suisse (2001), Dauphine Libere (2002, 20039, GP Midi Libre (2002), Rheinland-Pfalz Rundfaht (1998), Tour of Luxembourg (1998), Tour de Georgia (2004), two stages at the Tour de Frnace, two stages at the Tour de Suisse and four stages at the Dauphine Libere. He also faces the loss of his bronze medal in the time trial at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.

I know what you mean, but only the big guys earns a good salary.
The domestique guys, not earning that much money if you compare it to the other sports.
My Question ist, why "just" cycling infestet with doping?

Re: Sports in general. cycling_doping

Rabobank will end its sponsorship of both the men’s and the women’s professional cycling teams per 31 December 2012. Rabobank will continue its ties with amateur cycling as a sponsor, including the youth training and the cyclocross team.

Rabobank has come to this decision following publication of the report from the American doping authority USADA last week. This report speaks volumes. Bert Bruggink, member of the Managing Board: “It is with pain in our heart, but for the bank this is an inevitable decision. We are no longer convinced that the international professional world of cycling can make this a clean and fair sport. We are not confident that this will change for the better in the foreseeable future.”

Rabobank started its involvement in cycling 17 years ago. Full of conviction and with a clear mission. Because cycling fits with Rabobank, with its clients and employees. Rabobank has expanded the cycling sponsorship during the course of the years to a complete package, from the men’s and women’s professional teams to the youth team and the cyclo cross.

Bert Bruggink: “Cycling is a beautiful sport, which millions of Dutch people enjoy and a large number of those Dutch people are clients of Rabobank. But our decision stands: we are pulling out of professional cycling. It is painful. Not just for Rabobank, but especially for the enthusiasts and the cyclists who are not to blame in this.”

It is a pitty to see what happens to this great sport.I visit the Tour the France and the Vuelta to support the Orange guys.
And now, the Rabobank will ending their sponsorship in pro cycling after 17 years. This is a sad day for me. Cry
