Re: Formula 1 General Chat & Discussion

just found the latest news of the team order from last weekend !

FIA still considering Ferrari hearing date

The FIA is still not ready to set a date for the hearing about the Ferrari team orders affair.

It has been reported this week that the team's one-two finish at Hockenheim will be considered during the regular World Motor Sport Council meeting in Como, Italy, on September 10. But that date clashes with Friday free practice at Monza.

"The relevant committees are consulting about it [a date for the Ferrari hearing]," a spokesman said.

@ Watcher
One thing is sure, the Ferrari's engineer is been ingenuous; like fracheese has written in his post: 'it's a stupid rule,in turkey red bull asked leading driver to set a less performing "map setting" and he was overtaken by his teammate.'
Maybe this order would have been better.

Re: Formula 1 General Chat & Discussion

No.
My opinion does not exaggerate the facts.
If the incident had not occurred, and that includes Massa's race engineer telling him he was slower than Alonso, it would have been a completely different race from that point on.
Possibilities of other cars catching, backmarker incidents, who knows what ... Reversing the result would not be sufficient punishment but we shall have to wait for the World Motorsport Council to rule.

Let's face it, based on incidents during past years, it McLaren had done it Ferrari would be calling for them to be thrown out of F1.

It's better doesn't exagerate. At the maximun, apart the fine, the right punishment it would been to invert the arrive order between first and second position.

We don't forget that this year there are been case more scandalous, one example is been the fact Hamilton-Safety car during Valencia GP with the late penalty for Hamilton after 20 laps when by now his time advantage was however sufficient to maintain the second position, with following false declaration by the pilot.

In conclusion noone is innocent and all are guilty Big Grin, above all in F1 the sport more near to the soccer at level of fair play.
High interesting give also big impropriety.

Ferrari fined, World Motorsport Council to examine Alonso’s pass on Massa
25 July 2010

Ferrari have been fined $100,000 for breaking the Sporting Regulations during the German Grand Prix.

The stewards of the race have also referred the matter to the World Motor Sports Council. The result of the race stands for the time being.

Fernando Alonso passed Felipe Massa to win the German Grand Prix after the team had been heard instructing Massa that he was slower than his team mate.

Massa admitted after the race he let Alonso past but said he did so of his own choosing.

The stewards found Ferrari guilty of breaking article 39.1 of the sporting regulations which forbid team orders that influence the outcome of the race.
More to follow.

"Ferrari have been fined $100,000 for breaching sporting regulations after appearing to implement team orders during the German Prix."

Should have been excluded from the results in my opinion.

Re: Formula 1 General Chat & Discussion

It will be interesting to see whether the FIA has shaken off the Ferrari International Assistance title.
If they do not come down hard on this, we are likely to see many more 'coded' team orders in the future.
And to anybody believing Ferrari's words: The words say one thing, the body language after the event tells a different story.

Re: Formula 1 General Chat & Discussion

its taken half a season for alonso to create problems for the team.

so now the team are in with the stewards, so lets see if the result stands ?

Re: Formula 1 General Chat & Discussion

Ok, so now we know:-

Team orders are allowed in Formula 1, unless the FIA has the balls to enforce their rules.
Massa has no chance of winning a race this season, if Alonso is still running.

Ferrari should be excluded from the result for bringing the sport into disrepute.

it's a stupid rule, in turkey red bull asked leading driver to set a less performing "map setting" and he was overtaken by his teammate.
better cancel rule instead of playing who is the best liar/actor

Re: Formula 1 General Chat & Discussion

Alonso was very faster than Massa, so it was the right choice letting pass faster car.
