The season of Formula 1 is about to begin in Melbourne(Albert Park)
This year there will be many changes and the most important is: the new f1 2014 Power Unit(PU) It is comprised of a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine mated to a new Energy Recovery System(ERS) with two electric motors – one recovering energy from the brakes(MGU-K) and the other from the exhaust(MGU-H) – storing the energy in an onboard battery Together they're capable of producing 760 horsepower – around 600 horses comes from the internal-combustion engine and the rest from the hybrid assist. Drivers are allowed only five power units per season and the specification was already frozen for this year on February 28 Different penalties on the starting grid will be applied for each additional element used. In case of replacement of a complete power unit (beyond the 5 permitted) the pilot must start the race from the pit lane. In addition, each driver will be allowed just 100 kg (140 litres) of fuel per race in 2014, easy to understand that decisive for the victory will be therefore reliability and the fuel consumption optimization other change: Less downforce in rear zone due a single exhaust pipe and also narrower front wing; the car minimum weight limit has been increased to 690 kg. For these reasons, the lap times should be higher. in Bahrain Felipe Massa ended testing with the fastest time overall of 1m 33.258s, while Nico Rosberg’s pole time for the 2013 grand Prix was 1m 32.330s. This year will be very important the Power Unit(PU) Mercedes AMG – Mc Laren – Williams and Force India are powered by Mercedes Scuderia Ferrari – Sauber and Marussia are powered by Ferrari Red Bull – Lotus – Toro Rosso and Caterham are powered by Renault The preseason tests(Jerez and Bahrain) have been dominated by Mercedes powered teams and especially the new Mercedes AMG F1 W05 (Hamilton and Rosberg) seems the best. Ferrari a step below Williams (Massa and Bottas) could be the surprise of the season. Also Mc Laren MP4-29(Button and Magnussen, a rookie very fast) seems a good car. Great difficulties for the team powered by Renault Red Bull continued to struggle with reliability problems. and during the tests they chalked up a total of just over 1,700 kilometres (Mercedes and Williams 5000 km for each, Ferrari 4500 km) Last thing. This year there will be other new absurd penalty for drivers and the new double points system to the final race in Abu Dhabi. A rule unsportsmanlike, only for the show. |

The thrill is rising up ... this week... the F1 will start !
this year is different, this year is special, new rules, new limits, new cars, new frontiers to be reached for the technicians and the teams. I am very excited because for the first time after years i really don't have a clue about who is the stronger and the faster. For the first time after a long long time i really don't know who can be the real pretender of the championship title !!! I don't know even if there are many or few reliability problems ! It could be happening that few cars will reach the finishing line... looks like to get back to the '80 when everything can happening !! Good luck everybody ! Ferrari win !!! GO KIMI GOOOO !!!!! p.s. Schumi, never give up, never surrender !! go Schumi gooo !!!! |

Bahrain F1 test: Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes end winter on top :
Lewis Hamilton returned Mercedes to the top of the times while Red Bull's struggles continued during the final pre-season Formula 1 test of 2014 in Bahrain. The 2008 world champion made a late start, after losing most of the morning to a gearbox issue on the W05, but worked his way to the top of the times as the afternoon progressed. He fell just 0.02 seconds short of beating Felipe Massa's Sakhir circuit pre-season benchmark from Saturday's test and bumped Massa's Williams team-mate Valtteri Bottas from the top spot, after the Finn had led the way for most of the day before stopping on the start-finish straight with a mechanical issue. Sebastian Vettel endured another frustrating day in Red Bull's RB10, suffering what the team described as "a mechanical issue at the front of the car", which pitched the world champion off at Turn 1 before lunch. The German returned to the track in the afternoon, and racked up a total of 77 laps, but at reduced pace. He wound up ninth fastest thanks to late improvements under the floodlights, but still over four seconds off Hamilton. Fernando Alonso set Ferrari's fastest time of pre-season around the Sakhir circuit to go third fastest, after the F14 T caused one of eight red flags across the day when Alonso stopped at Turn 12.Romain Grosjean's Lotus, Jenson Button's McLaren, and Nico Hulkenberg's Force India all suffered engine failures that curtailed their running early, while clutch issues forced Kamui Kobayashi's Caterham to stop prematurely too. Jean-Eric Vergne enjoyed arguably Toro Rosso's most successful day of pre-season, clocking 74 laps and the fifth fastest time. Adrian Sutil and Esteban Gutierrez split driving duties in the Sauber and racked up more laps between them (177) than anyone else. Electrical dramas delayed Max Chilton, but the Brit made a late surge to seventh on the timesheet, splitting the Sauber drivers with Marussia's fastest lap of pre-season around this track. Thus ended a drama packed Formula 1 preseason, the next episode being the real deal when engines fire up in anger for the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne ( 14th - 16th march ) !!! 01 Lewis Hamilton - Mercedes - 1:33.278 -69 laps 02 Valtteri Bottas - Williams - 1:33.987 +0.709 - 108 laps 03 Fernando Alonso - Ferrari - 1:34.280 +1.002 - 74 laps 04 Nico Hulkenberg - Force India - 1:35.577 +2.299 - 74 laps 05 Jean-Eric Vergne - Toro Rosso - 1:35.701 +2.423 - 74 laps 06 Adrian Sutil - Sauber - 1;36.467 +3.189 - 91 laps 07 Max Chilton - Marussia - 1:36.835 +3.557 - 61 laps 08 Esteban Gutierrez - Sauber - 1:37.303 +4.025 - 85 laps 09 Sebastian Vettel - Red Bull - 1:37.468 +4.190 - 77 laps 10 Jenson Button - McLaren - 1:38.111 +4.833 - 22 laps 11 Kamui Kobayashi - Caterham - 1:38.391 +5.113 - 106 laps 12 Romain Grosjean - Lotus - 1:39.302 +6.024 - 32 laps Kind Regards Shaky - Schumi Ps: With the ending of the winter test I would like to announce that there will be again a F1 game here on the forum as well on Saturday as on Sunday ! Bahrain Test II Day 3: Massa raises the bar as world champions fail to do a lap :
Felipe Massa set the fastest time of Formula 1 pre-season testing in Bahrain so far on Saturday, as Sebastian Vettel failed to complete a lap for Red Bull. Williams focused on performance work for Massa's final day in the car before the Australian Grand Prix weekend, and late in the afternoon the Brazilian, on supersoft tyres, set the quickest time over the two tests at Sakhir this pre-season. Nico Rosberg - who completed 103 laps despite losing most of the morning due to an engine change - also went out on supersofts and briefly stole top spot from Massa with around 15 minutes to go, but the Williams went back out and beat his time by 0.2 seconds. At the other end of the timing screens sat world champion Vettel, who took over from Daniel Ricciardo following Red Bull's best day of pre-season so far. However, there was no continuation of that momentum for Vettel, who stopped halfway round his out-lap after waiting nearly three hours to head out of the garage for the first time. The RB10 was sent out again before lunch, but this time it only made it to the end of the pitlane before Vettel stopped and had to push the car back. After that the Red Bull mechanics closed the garage doors, and the car did not reappear. Sauber and Lotus were the other teams in trouble. The Swiss team managed one lap before Adrian Sutil pulled to a stop at the pit entry with smoke coming out of the C33, requiring an engine change that could not be completed in time for him to run again. Romain Grosjean was back in the Lotus for the first time at this final test, and after electrical problems prevented him from running in the morning, his day ended after just 33 laps with an MGU-K problem that was too big to fix before the end of the running. In terms of race simulations, Force India followed its programme from the past two days with Sergio Perez, giving Nico Hulkenberg set-up work to do in the morning before a race run in the afternoon. Ferrari had a quiet morning on Kimi Raikkonen's final day in the car, and it finally managed to carry out some race simulation work with the Finn in the final two hours of the day. That left just enough time for some short runs just before the end, which enabled the 2007 world champion to set the third-fastest time. 1 F.Massa - Williams - 1.33.258 - 99 laps 2 N.Rosberg - Mercedes - 1.33.484 +0.226 - 103 laps 3 K.Raikkonen - Ferrari - 1.35.487 +2.229 - 87 laps 4 K.Magnussen - McLaren - 1.35.894 +2.636 - 88 laps 5 D.Kvyat - Toro Rosso - 1.36.113 +2.855 - 80 laps 6 N.Hulkenberg - Force India - 1.36.205 +2.947 - 115 laps 7 J.Bianchi - Marussia - 1.37.087 +3.829 - 78 laps 8 M.Ericsson - Caterham - 1.38.083 +4.825 - 117 laps 9 R.Grosjean - Lotus - 1.42.166 +8.908 - 33 laps 10 A.Sutil - Sauber - 1 lap 11 S.Vettel - Red Bull - 0 laps Kind Regards Shaky - Schumi |
