Timo Glock : Marussia F1 Team : 1:27.039 + 3.029 21. Charles Pic : Marussia F1 Team : 1:27.073 + 3.063 22. Narain Karthikeyan : HRT F1 Team : 1:27.441 + 3.431 23. Pedro de la Rosa : HRT F1 Team : 1:27.629 + 3.619 24. Nico Hulkenberg : Force India : no time set - Paul di Resta wil get a 5 place grid penalty because of changing gearbox !!! ( this means Schumi wil start at the 4th place next to Felipe Massa ) Comment of the qualification : Lewis Hamilton claimed his fourth pole position of the 2012 Formula 1 season as he led Jenson Button in an all-McLaren front row in qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix. Having led both second and third practice, Hamilton maintained his strong form to set a 1m24.010s at the start of Q3. That proved unbeatable, and Button eventually joined him up front with a lap 0.123 seconds slower. Button's run deposed Felipe Massa, as the Ferrari driver delivered his best qualifying performance of the year. But it was a disastrous session for Massa's championship-leading team-mate Fernando Alonso, who was only 10th, 1.4s slower. Ferrari reported a suspected anti-rollbar failure. Paul di Resta qualified a superb fourth, although he will move down to ninth when a gearbox-change penalty is applied. The Scot's speed will still be some consolation for Force India as his team-mate Nico Hulkenberg encountered an apparent gearbox problem at the start of Q1 and was left at the back of the field. Red Bull had another muted qualifying session. Sebastian Vettel was sixth, while his team-mate Mark Webber did not make Q3, missing the cut by 0.067s as he took 11th. Mercedes' Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg sandwich Vettel in fifth and seventh. Kimi Raikkonen qualified eighth for Lotus, ahead of Kamui Kobayashi's Sauber. It was also a tough day for Williams. A mistake on the exit of the Ascaris left Pastor Maldonado 12th in Q2, which will become 22nd on the grid due to his Spa penalties. Bruno Senna was only 14th in the sister car. Romain Grosjean's substitute Jerome d'Ambrosio was around 0.7s off team-mate Raikkonen's pace throughout qualifying, which left him 16th for his Lotus debut. D'Ambrosio substitute had a brief scare in Q1 when an error on his first run left him behind Heikki Kovalainen's Caterham and in danger of elimination, but he switched to the softer tyres and made the cut with his last attempt. Pedro de la Rosa : HRT F1 Team : 1:28.384 + 3.806 Again problems with Schumi's car ..no KERS Also problems with the car of Vettel ...battery problems Comment of the 3rd practice session : Lewis Hamilton stayed top at Monza on Saturday morning, as the McLaren man went fastest in the final free practice session for the Italian Grand Prix. But it was close. The Briton, who was also fastest in free practice two, beat Fernando Alonso to the top spot by just one thousandth of a second as prospects for a close fight for pole continued to grow. Paul di Resta was an impressive third fastest in the Force India, which made news of his gearbox penalty all the more disappointing ahead of qualifying. Hamilton signalled McLaren's intentions early on after the traditional early-session lull, going fastest with a 1m25.508s. Within moments that was challenged first by Sergio Perez in the Sauber, and then Lotus's Kimi Raikkonen. But by the end of his long run on the hard tyres Hamilton had achieved an impressive 1m24.687s - faster than anything recorded yesterday - to establish himself at the top of the times ahead of his team-mate Jenson Button. Just after halfway through the session though Alonso weighed in with his own hard-tyre effort – a 1m24.632s lap – that put him top in the Ferrari, while not long after that Rosberg was the first of the frontrunners to switch to the mediums. The Mercedes driver could only manage third however. Rosberg's team-mate Michael Schumacher, who had been fastest in free practice one, was out of the picture by this stage with yet more reliability issues – this time with his KERS, so the five-time Monza winner instead focused on race set-up. Into the final 10 minutes and most people switched to their low fuel, option tyre runs. Alonso was the first to fire in a time – 1m24.579s – only to see that beaten by 0.001 seconds by Hamilton. And that was the way it stayed, ahead of di Resta and Felipe Massa in the second Ferrari. Button was fifth, having failed to get a clear lap towards the end of the session, and Rosberg sixth. Perez was seventh quickest in the first of the Saubers ahead of Raikkonen, Nico Hulkenberg (emphasising Force India's pace) and Pastor Maldonado in the Williams. Sebastian Vettel, who has not been a factor for much of the weekend so far, was 11th fastest and the top Red Bull runner. But he ended the session parked down at the second chicane with a technical issue and reporting a 'low battery'. This afternoon at 14.00u CET will be the qualification !!! Kind Regards Shaky-Schumi |

Charles Pic : Marussia F1 Team : 1:27.968 + 2.678 23. Pedro de la Rosa : HRT F1 Team : 1:28.575 + 3.285 24. Narain Karthikeyan : HRT F1 Team : 1:28.779 + 3.489 Short comment of the 2nd session : Lewis Hamilton led a McLaren one-two in the second Friday practice session for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. As speculation over his future continued to dominate paddock conversation, Hamilton set the pace with a 1m25.290s lap. That time was achieved on the softer of this weekend's Pirelli tyres, as was Spa winner Jenson Button's 1m25.328s lap in second place in the sister McLaren. The Woking squad's move to the front was at the expense of home favourite Ferrari, which had led the way through the middle part of the session. But despite the speed that saw him on top for a long spell with a 1m25.348s on hard tyres, championship leader Fernando Alonso had a number of problems. First a brake issue required attention, then a gearbox issue curtailed his session.Alonso's time still held up for third, just 0.058 seconds off the pace. His team-mate Felipe Massa was next up. The Brazilian's only glitch was a vent flying off the top of his helmet at speed. Nico Rosberg completed the top five for Mercedes. His morning practice pace-setting team-mate Michael Schumacher suffered DRS gremlins throughout the afternoon, and was back in 10th. Kimi Raikkonen was fastest for a while early on and ended up sixth in the lead Lotus. His one-off team-mate Jerome d'Ambrosio - standing in for the banned Romain Grosjean - was 0.6s slower in 12th. Force India continued its strong Spa form to take seventh and eighth, Nico Hulkenberg ahead of Paul di Resta. Sauber's Sergio Perez was next up. It was a quiet session for champion team Red Bull. Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel were back in 11th and 13th. Tomorrow ( saturday ) at 11.00u CET will be the 3rd practice session , followed at 14.00u the qualification ! Kind Regards Shaky-Schumi |

Hard to bet the right time for tomorrows qualifying.
Only a marginal difference in laptime between this year Pirelli Hard and Medium tyres in 2nd free practice. Last years pole 1:22:275 will be impossible this year. In the long runs with a lot of fuel Schumi best laptimes. Good sign for sunday. |
