Someone knows what the exif-data can be used for...
 The Tuscany-pictures were taken 2005 with an Olympus U410 and/or a D560UZ. Nothing sophisticated, entry-level digicams for amateurs. Both came with generous 16MB xD-memory cards at the time I bought them. The Krumlov-pics were shot with a Canon IXUS 75, must be 8,9 years old now but still works fine like on the first day. The Ixus is a "pocket-friendly" camera, not too small, not too big and offers an ok-quality, even for todays higher standards. Every digicam writes very detailed informations (metadata) and embeds them into the images. Als long as the pics are not modified or imported in some mostly useless photocollection-manager like Shotwell or whatever (which often completely destroys the matadata), exiftool can be a great help. Just save the image you want to know more about and run exiftool. Very good pictures Dackel0401, if you don't mind me asking, what type of camera did you use to capture these images, was it from your smartphone or one of these really expensive cameras as they look really professional

Italy; Tuscany - Central Italy
Well, what can I say - simply my favourite place in this world and I spend most of my holidays there. Since the first time I came here and that was more than 20 years ago I can say I fell in love with Italy immediately. Not only with the country Italy, but also with a lot that defines as "italian". Italian food, music, italian cars. Today Italy feels like a 2nd home to me and I'm always looking forward to these one or two weeks a year when it's finally time to pack my bags to visit Italy again. Sure, you got tons of history & culture there, spectacular architecture, wonderful art, fantastic museums, beautiful cities (there's no city like Rome - nowhere), amazing shopping-opportunities, sunny beaches, a beautiful natural scenery & landscape - everything you can imagine you'll find it there. The weather is great and the country seems to be overflooded with beautiful women... What makes Italy so outstanding are the people there. Their positive attitude to life, to everything - their "Dolce vita". They appreciate the good things in life and are generally charming, warm-hearted people. I'm just a visitor, one of the countless tourists, but especially in the small towns and villages the kindness and the hospitality of the Italians is really touching. Even when they barely know you, they treat you like an old friend they've known for years. I've never met so many friendly & welcoming people as in Italy, I guess the mentality of the southern countries makes indeed a big difference... Italian food: Belongs to the best in the world and offers a wide variety. From delicious homemade pastas to the most exquisite seafood everything is included. Stick to the well-known freshly made traditional italian food and that is a lot more than just the classic Pizza & Pasta. In Tuscany a Panzanello is a must. It's made of fresh baked bread and tomato-salad and it's even healty (not that I care much about that). The Panzanello is for the start, then continue with a Bistecca Fiorentina, the italian equivalent of a T-bonesteak from some special breed italian cattle. If you are still hungry, then you must be a hungry lupus/wolf and I would recommend a risotto frutti di mare (rice dish with seafood). When it comes to food the "La Taverna di San Guiseppe" in Siena will fulfill all your wishes. Doesn't matter which dish you are ordering, everything is delicious there with no exceptions... Cesky Krumlov (Czech Republic); June 2015 - some impressions

The czech language seems to be a complicated one: [hidden link - please register] Historic city of Krumlov: [hidden link - please register] [hidden link - please register] The castle of Krumlov: [hidden link - please register] [hidden link - please register] ... and now the most important part: The czech cousine is one level above top-notch and if you like meat, then you are definitely in the right country. Vegetarians must have a hard time there... In Krumlov I can highly recommend the Restaurant Jelenka - the ambiente, atmosphere, service & food is simply excellent. It's a nice place with very friendly people. Give the beef sirloin in cream sauce with potato dumplings a try and I promise you won't be disappointed. Important: You have to be very hungry when you go to eat there, because they serve really big portions. The prices are very friendly and don't forget to order an original czech beer or two. They have excellent beer there too... |

I hope it becomes popular. Yes indeed, we now live in an age where mostly everybody has a smart phone which has the capacity to take really good pictures. All images in the nature thread can be obtained very easily just by by doing a google search and then viewing the image and if you want to show the picture on this forum simply just paste the link into the picture tool to post which is in the icon next to the bold, underscore and italic option. No offence intended to those members that participate on that Thread but I am merely stating a fact here. These images were taken by professionals with absolutely no connections to this forum whatsoever and as such their work should really be credited but that's an entirely different debate for another day. I set up this Thread as I felt that what makes a forum interesting is to see what the members can capture and so far I have been very impressed. Some really nice location shots from eigentor and with regards to the pictures which best-reporting took I am very impressed with the timing in which to capture these magnificent men and their flying machines A lot of you know already on this forum that I like to travel, back in July I visited Germany and on one of the visits I made I visited a nice wee quiet town called Seligenstadt which is in the Offenbach district in the Regierungsbezirk of Darmstadt in Hesse, Germany. When I was there I visited the very picturesque gardens which were located within the town and this is some of what I captured [hidden image - please register] [hidden image - please register] [hidden image - please register] On the home front I stay in a very quiet distract in Scotland located in Perthshire, its a nice town but if you're looking for nightlife here, then forget it, all the pubs close at 11PM and only stay open for an extra hour on Fridays and Saturdays  which usually means that the only place to get more booze is by frequenting many of the nightclubs on offer, I say many, try 2 Lol I took these snapshots earlier on today [hidden image - please register] [hidden image - please register] Last but not least I like to support Dundee United, these are a few snapshots I took in the recent game at home to Morton in which we won 2-1 These were taken from the top tier of the George Fox Stand which is where I like to sit as I get a great view of the game as you can see.[hidden image - please register] [hidden image - please register] [hidden image - please register] As I said when I posted this Thread, you can post anything you like, photography just like art is subjective
