 Japanese police arrest 74-year-old ninja thief suspect ... Japanese police say they have finally caught a prolific thief who dressed as a ninja to carry out raids - and were surprised to find he was 74. After his usually covered face was caught on a security camera this year, he was put under surveillance which led to his arrest in July. Police now believe he is the so-called "Ninja of Heisei", thought to have carried out more than 250 break-ins. [hidden image - please register] Police had been baffled by a series of burglaries over eight years carried out by a suspect wearing black, assuming they had been carried out by someone younger. Investigators observed the suspect, whom they say seemed little different from most elderly men, during the day. But they say he then went into an abandoned building and changed clothes before waiting until it got dark to steal. "He was dressed all in black just like a ninja," a senior official in the western Japanese city of Osaka said. After his arrest, the man was quoted as saying: "If I were younger, I wouldn't have been caught. I'll quit now as I'm 74 and old enough."  Woodpecker blamed for dozens of broken mirrors ... Neighbors thought they were being terrorized by vandals. It turns out it was a bird. Last Friday Kevin Morrisey walked out to his Ford Explorer to find glass broken on the ground. “I saw the glass, said, 'Son of a biscuit, it got hit,'” Morrisey said. [hidden image - please register] His side mirror smashed and he wasn’t alone: One of up to two dozen victims in the Nob Hill subdivision of Snellville. The “suspect” struck in broad daylight. Neighbors thought it must be kids with a BB gun or hammer. “I’ve been hearing them, running up and down the creek behind my house,” said one neighbor. Neighbor John Hancock’s wife’s mirror got hit too. He called police and officers took reports and even sent more patrols into the neighborhood. Until the culprit was caught red-“headed.” “I thought, ‘Oh my God I got taken in by a woodpecker,’” Hancock said. The woodpecker was about the size of a crow. The woodpecker was not actually trying to break the glass. It saw its reflection and thought it was attacking another woodpecker. |

A trio of excited thieves have been caught on surveillance cameras hugging each other after finding a stack of cash inside an unlocked car. [hidden image - please register] A woman had forgotten to lock her car, which was parked outside her home, when the thieves found her rent money stashed in her pocketbook. The surveillance video, which was obtained by WTVR , shows the men loitering around several cars trying to open the doors. One of them eventually opens the driver's side door of the women's unlocked black car. He was caught shining a light inside the car before finding the money. The group then huddled around the trunk of the car as the man appeared to show his friends what he had found. Retired Henrico Deputy Christopher Wilson said he heard a noise outside in the early hours and now feels bad for not checking it out. Legendary proof ? A shocked crowd around 60 ft long ‘Dragon skeleton’ in China ... Locals who flocked round the bizarre discovery appeared to believe it could be the real thing. More than 10 million people have viewed the short video of the gigantic bones which resemble the fire-breathing legendary dinosaur-like creature. [hidden image - please register] The remains appear to be a long spine, with a pair of arms and legs, and a dragon-like skull at one end. Dozens of locals gather round the skeleton in the video which was filmed in Zhangjiakou City, in China's northern Hebei Province. [hidden image - please register] Villagers appear to be convinced as they stand in awe of the giant pile of bones. The skeleton matches with the dragons that appear in Chinese mythology. Unlike the creatures from the West, Chinese dragons have no wings and fly by “swimming” through the air like a snake. Social media users believe it is just an elaborate hoax. Authorities examining the corpse have yet to release a statement about the so-called dragon’s remains. The dramatic moment a biker spots a thief stealing old lady’s phone and sprints after him before knocking him off his bike and returning the stolen property. Dramatic footage has emerged of a biker chasing down a phone thief before throwing him off his bicycle. Despite being on foot, the hero is able to catch up to the cyclist and pushes him off his bike. He orders the thief to 'stay down' while he retrieves the woman's phone. Once he picks it up the thief makes a run for it - leaving his bicycle in the middle of the road. As he flees the scene the biker yells at him causing him to briefly stop before sprinting away. 3 Bears break into Colorado restaurant, find no porridge ... They couldn’t find porridge or, for that matter, Goldilocks. But that was of little concern to the three bears that broke into a pizza shop in Estes Park, Colorado, this week. [hidden image - please register] Judging from surveillance footage of the early Sunday heist, the ursine family ― unlike Goldilocks ― was perfectly content eating food that wasn’t “just right.” The mother bear and her two cubs made a meal of cold pizza dough and salami, rifling through a trash can and a prep table to find it. The bears gained entrance to the kitchen by ripping the drive-through window out of the wall, according to the restaurant. They ate more than 40 pounds of dough and caused around $1,000 in damage.  Northern Ontario Moose vs Wolf ... Canadian resident Dan Nystedt shot with his drone six-minute video, which recorded a duel between the moose and the wolf. [hidden image - please register] Events took place on a lake in Northern Ontario (part of the Canadian province of Ontario). On the video you can see how the wolf suddenly appeared from the forest and attacked the elk standing in shallow water. [hidden image - please register] Moose beat back the attacks of the wolf and at the same time he tried to strike with a hoof. But the predator still managed to come close to the victim and grab for his leg. As a result, the moose still managed to get rid of the wolf. But he did not lag behind and ran after the alleged victim, before the elk reached the deep water. At the end of the video, you can see two wolves who watched of moose from the railway tracks. |

Video of the attempted break in, which took place September 17, shows a mama bear and her two adolescent bears trying to get into a lady's trash can. [hidden image - please register] The bears were determined not to give up in the four minute long video as the woman continued to say: 'Look at that, they're going to roll it down the hill' The bears can be seen turning the trash can upside down whilst the woman chuckles in the background. Eventually, all three bears give up as they're seen running down the hill, with the bin unscathed. The woman wrote underneath the video: 'This mama, along with her 2 adolescent bears, visited my trash cans a bit ago and used her claw to pull out trash through a half-broken bearproof lid.' 'The same bears returned 2 weeks later, but were met with a replaced bearproof can that proved to be amazingly effective.' |

Hungry elephant overturns vehicle on Sri Lanka road in search of food ... A tourist in Sri Lanka captured video of an elephant tipping over a tuk tuk vehicle after being fed by a tourist. The video, filmed Sept. 14, shows the elephant approach the tuk tuk on a road between Arugam Bay and Yala. [hidden image - please register] A man gets out of the tuk tuk and hand-feeds the elephant, which accepts the offering before swatting at the man with its trunk and overturning the vehicle. [hidden image - please register] The filmer explained the passenger, an Irish tourist, had been instructed by the driver to throw the food in a bid to get the elephant to clear the street, but he misunderstood and hand-fed the wild animal instead. "The elephant turned over the tuk tuk and took out all his bags searching for food. Must be the luck of the Irish that he wasn't injured," the filmer wrote. |
