Pvr real-time hardware encoding mpeg4

Hi I wanted to ask Quach information, my main goal is saving space on 'hard drives, so I tried some products of good quality records in MPEG4 compressed format (in real time hardware), basically a DIVX, perhaps with ability to set the various modes compression HQ, SP, LP, EP, SLP, anything goes, DTT PVRs, etc. .. multimedia Recorder , that is important to be able to record on pvr usb, as I said, my goal is to get on the 120-minute recording of about 1 GB and possibly even less, 800 MB would be the 'ideal. What product do you recommend with these features ?

Re: Pvr real-time hardware encoding mpeg4

Mellini Thank you Thumb up, you were very kind, I'm sorry for the delay

Unfortunately, the bit rate of the recorder multimedia is still high, I had opened a similar time arguments, a specialized forum: [hidden link - please register] , the board administrator to personally head the various recorder revealed the following bitrates: HQ about 1.1MB / s. SP about 0.77MB / s LP about 0.71MB / s. Finally, the quality EP and SLP from approximately 0.48MB / s but with resolution 352 × 480, I did the calculation and 120 minutes of recording time was 7 GB and 200 MB, then the construction materials of the medley, are of poor quality, poor plastic

I was classified as the best Dvico multimedia recorder, however, has a problem with the tuner, [hidden link - please register]

The bitrate that I have the Dvico Trovat are these:

HQ: 720 * 480 69.2MB/min, 9364Kbps
SP: 720 * 480 42.2MB/min, 5801Kbps
EP: 28.3MB/min 352 * 480 3985Kbps

Two hours of recording in EP mode corresponds to 2 GB and 400 MB

Re: Pvr real-time hardware encoding mpeg4

Hello Hilbert, thanks for the explanations you have been very kind Thumb up

Perhaps the title of the thread that I have chosen is wrong, so misleading, I point out that the 'high definition bluray and I am not interested, but I try the exact opposite

I just need a PVR to record on a USB, can be more compressed format (mpeg4, xvid codec) about me just solving the classic 720 x 576

n fact, the 'LG RHT497H can record MPEG4 AVI format, with a hardware change and crafted a special software, then it is possible to transfer recordings to your PC

Recordings made with the LG unfortunately have problems, lack of frame rate on movies

There instead of recordings made with the 'LG and technical specifications of the movie :

(records are created by 'LG as they are, there is no software modification)

The Panasonic advised me that unfortunately are not good for my needs, and I do not register on USB, but you can only store the recordings on DVD

Some other idea about the pvr ?

Re: Pvr real-time hardware encoding mpeg4

@elmo Thank you for the information and the availability Thumb up @ Shirtfull Thanks again for the availability Thumb up

I state that high quality does not interest me, my goal is to get a small video files with acceptable quality. Similar to Divx you download from the internet

The only solution for me is to connect the 'HD PVR satellite receiver via the analog component inputs

Even if the quality is not the best, as I have explained, however, you can get the same 120 minutes for 1 GB ?? (Without using software, of course, using only the 'hardware of' HD PVR) Because I had read about the specific minimum 1 MB per second Recording datarate: from 1 to 13.5 Mbits / sec (user selectable).

Sorry if I do a lot of questions, but I do not speak English, I am translating with google, so I'm trying to understand

thnx. I know what it is, a device for making bluray discs from VHS tapes, whoopee just what I've always wanted.

p.s and it does so on the fly

Re: Pvr real-time hardware encoding mpeg4

Component video is analogue, which means any recordings made with the Hauppauge device will need digital-analogue-digital conversion, not a good idea at all if you are wanting high quality recordings and at 1 GB for 120 minutes.

in marck 120's case to quote Shirtfull - this will be very lossy, and the end result also very disappointing. The product you require isn't available yet.

Re: Pvr real-time hardware encoding mpeg4

@ marck120

You're confusing resolution with format. Composite and S video are SD resolution (576/480)
So when recording using SD inputs, you'll get a SD resolution video in H264 format.

H264 and Mpeg are both compressed lossy formats

The format H264 AVC is a modern codec and allows for a lower bit rate for the same quality when compared to old mpeg.

Re: Pvr real-time hardware encoding mpeg4

Shirtfull wrote:@ marck120

HD PVR can record SD via composite or s-video (look at the front image) and also supplied with S/W to convert to differnt formats.

Unfortunately, it records in compressed format. The specification says this :

Specifications

Hardware encoder :

AVCHD or H.264 video encoder.
or Recording datarate: from 1 to 13.5 Mbits / sec (user selectable).
or Recording format: up to 1080th from component video (YCrCb)
Note: the video input format determines the recorded format. For example, 1080i input records at 1080i, 720P records at 720P, etc. .. Any other format conversions needs to be done with the MediaConvert program (supplied).

Doing the calculations: 1 MB per second = 60 MB per minute, 60 MB for 60 minutes = 3 GB and 600 MB x 2 = 7 GB and 200 MB. So a film of 120 minutes is 7 GB and 200 MB

These results will get recorded with the receiver. I wanted to get 120 minutes x 1 GB, do you think is possible to obtain a similar result ?

If I use the software to convert is useless at this point in the TS register with the receiver, and then convert to divx with some program. I want to get a video file of 1 GB for 120 minutes using hardware, without using software to compress the recording

Re: Pvr real-time hardware encoding mpeg4

@zorgaux

Thank you for all information and availability Thumb up

It is true, DVD HDD Recorder can not record to USB, but you can only store the recordings on DVD. I have a philips 5570H, with a 250 GB hard drive. To get a good quality video I record in HQ

Okay, if you find any product that is made for me let me know, thanks again

@Shirtfull

Thank you for having responded to me and for information Thumb up

How do you explain the Hauppauge unfortunately only records in HD, 720p, 1080i, to get an avi, DivX, or, small, must be converted with the software

There is no card or PVR to record directly to DivX ? (Mpeg4 codec XiviD)

For real time encoding have a look at here:-

Note. This encodes to H264 AVC not Mpeg4 H263(Divx,Xvid)

Re: Pvr real-time hardware encoding mpeg4

Too bad, I thought you could also use to record from TV. I need a pvr to record from TV, satellite or DTT is indifferent, important records in a compressed format.

The two were talking about DVR, you used to register, what are they ?

Re: Pvr real-time hardware encoding mpeg4

Depends on the bitrate. On what channel you get 60 minutes to 1.03 GB ?

I get 8 GB to 120 minutes of the Mediaset channels (Rete 4, Canale 5, Italy 1)

The DVRs were talking about, I did not understand what they are ?? And what I've posted the link ?
