When I talked about that strategy backfiring, I wasn't specifically referring to financial problems in general, although I guess that from a certain point of view it could lead to that anyway. However, I don't think this is their strategy, as for how I see things, they're clearly trying to squeeze as much money as possible from their "rich" customers; like somebody used to say here, 3 people that spend 1.000 are better than 25 people who spend 100. Of course, if something happens to one of those 3 people, the consequences are different than if something were to happen to one of the 25. But realizing this would require foresight which is a scarce commodity in Molvania. |

But this is a small base. Presumed currently there are much more viewers than customers, the trick were to get a few bucks from many of the until now not paying viewers. The premium shows are a first step in this direction, but I think they could offer much more and show this also for non customers. E.g. calendars, high quality photos and videos are occasionally offered to logged in ETV customers, but people who are not logged in don't often get to know about. Amazon hardly were the most successful online shop on the world today if the customers had to pay 60Euro on their customer account before he can see what they can buy. Of course ETV's business is too special to be successful like Amazon, but possibly it could enhance their customer base. Regards Joker |

We could tell the local newspapers, but on these grounds I believe you're much more rooted than me. Gliding back on-topic, the problems at ETV right now are twofold: management and management. First of all, the apparent censorship issue on TV is just a stalking horse (not going to explain this expression, look it up if you don't know it). Without the need to analyze rules and regulations (for which, anyway, I thank Vappiano who has been the only one willing to fully understand this matter, unlike somebody else who talked just for his own interests), if ETV can show a pussy on free-to-air television, they can construct basically everything they have been lately doing in the premium shows (with the possible exception of Timi's exclusive shows these days). All the rest is just hot talk. Second of all: ETV has strayed from being an erotic channel for all kinds of men (lonely, single, married, young, old) who want to see (more or less) beautiful naked women to being a sort-of sexy channel for mostly old and lonely men who want to feel loved and appreciated by (more or less) beautiful, not-necessarily-naked women. ETV is trying to capitalize on that need (which in some cases turns to obsession) in every way they can: presents to the models, possibility of sending them personal messages on their cellphones, billions of initiatives to show appreciation for the model (like the shortlived "Send a rose to your model!") and long, pompous posts on their Wall underlying how the girls are extremely happy and content to have received such gifts and they heartfeltly thank their beloved viewers. The problem is that this strategy is beginning to backfire on them a little bit. By the way, I am just pointing these two things out, I am not posting them as criticism, nor as advice, as I am just acknowledging the situation and am no longer interested in provoking changes in the channel. |
