Men' s Singles : Jannik Sinner (4) won his 11th ATP tournament in career (first Grand Slam and fifth on hard), defeating
Daniil Medvedev (3) 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 after 3h 44'

In the first set, Medvedev started better than the Italian, breaking him in the third game and maintaining it without giving any chances to break back until 5-3, when Sinner managed to cancel two consecutive set-points, but couldn't save the third, losing the set 6-3 after 36'; in the second set, the South Tyrolean saved 4 break points in the first game, but then he was broken twice in a row in the third and fifth game, going 1-5 down, managing to break for the first time in the match the Russian and then going 3-5, but this time Medvedev, after saving a break-point, didn't miss the opportunity to close the set at the second set- point with another 6-3 after 49'; the third set remained balanced until 4-4, then, on 5-4 in his favour, Sinner, at the first opportunity, broke Medvedev and won the set 6-4 in 45', reopening the match; in the fourth set, the Russian saved a break-point in the second and another in the fourth game, Sinner cancelled one in the seventh game and then, in the tenth game, he completed the comeback, closing the set at the first opportunity with another 6-4 in 56'; in the fifth and deciding set, the balance reigned until 2-2, then, in the sixth game, the Italian broke the Russian, going ahead 4-2 and then maintaining the lead without worries until the final 6-3, which triggers the Italian celebration, making Sinner the third Italian to win a Slam in men's singles and the first to triumph in the Australian Open (in total, he is the 31st Italian Slam Champion, "pro" or junior, in singles, doubles or mixed doubles), while for Medvedev it was the third Slam Final lost in five sets, the second being two sets ahead after the one 2 years ago on the same court against Rafael Nadal.

Women' s Singles : Aryna Sabalenka (2) won her 14th WTA tournament in career (second Grand Slam, both in Australia, consecutive, and 9th on hard), defeating
Qinwen Zheng (12) 6-3, 6-2 after 1h 16'

In the first set, Sabalenka, who was playing her third final act of a Slam in career, immediately started strong, breaking her opponent in the second game and taking
the lead to 3-0 after saving three consecutive counter-break points, then the match continued with both players holding their serve without risk until 5-2, when the Belarusian had three consecutive set-points, but Zheng, who was at her first Final in a major in career, managed to save them all, going 3-5, Sabalenka, however,
did not tremble and closed the set 6-3 at the fifth set-point with an unreturned serve after 33'; in the second set, Zheng was immediately broken in the first game, committing three double faults and Sabalenka, increasingly calm and confident, took another break in the fifth game, flying to 5-1, and then closing the match at the fifth opportunity, after canceling a break-point, with a peremptory 6-2.
