2016 WTA FINALS :
Singapore, 23-30 October : Singles Final : Dominika Cibulkova (7) won her 8th WTA tournament in career, defeating Angelique Kerber (1) 6-3, 6-4 after 1h 18' A surprising ending of the 2016 WTA season, with Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova (at her first participation in the Year-end Master) who won the most important title in her career, defeating world' s N° 1 Angelique Kerber; in first set Cibulkova started better, leading 3-0, but Kerber broke her back in fifth game, then the Slovakian broke the German again in the very next game and closed the set 6-3 after 32'; second set was decided by an only break, made by Cibulkova in 7th game, with Kerber who tried to break her back in 10th game, but the Slovakian managed to save 2 break-points, closing the match at the fourth match-point with a lucky net; from tomorrow Cibulkova will be world' s N° 5, her best ranking, while Kerber will remain world' s N° 1 and can be satisfied of her season, in which she won two Grand Slam titles.
