Re: International Soccer - General Discussion

In Scotland the results of the Fourth Round of the Scottish Cup went as follows, a competition which I'm very fond of as I remember being at Hampden back in 1994 in which we won it for the 1st Time ever and then in 2010 when we won it again Smile

[Versteckter Link - Registrierung notwendig]

St Mirren 1 Partick Thistle 2
Linlithgow Rose 3 Forfar 3
Airdrieonians 0 Dundee Utd 1
Annan Athletic 4 Hamliton 1
Dumbarton 2 Queen Of Sth 1
Dunfermline 2 Ross County 2
Livingston 0 Morton 1
Motherwell 5 Cove Rangers 0
Raith Rovers 0 Hibernian 2
St Johnstone 0 Kilmarnock 1
Stirling 0 Inverness CT 0
Hearts 1 Aberdeen 0
Rangers 5 Cowdenbeath 1
Stranraer 0 Celtic 3

The match between Dundee and Falkirk was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The match will therefore take place this Tuesday instead.

Incase anybody is wondering why we have 2 teams in Dundee well this is how close the 2 stadiums are, on matchday the opposition will simply just cross over the road Smile

Re: International Soccer - General Discussion

Just finished watching a really entertaining game on BBC1 between Exeter City and Liverpool in the Third Round of the FA Cup, the difference in finances couldn't be more contrasting, before the game kicked off Jurgen Klopp held his pre match interview in the Exeter tearoom, at first the interview didn't look anything out of the ordinary but when the camera panned away this is what we actually seen, I was in stitches of laugher.

Final result:

Exeter City 2 Liverpool 2

Well played Exeter they took the game to Liverpool and led the game twice but unfortunately not to be, however they can console themselves with a replay at Anfield. A classic match from start to finish, well done to the BBC for choosing to show this one live SmileThumb up

Re: International Soccer - General Discussion

Up in Scotland I just despair, I watched Dundee Utd take the lead only to lose once again, as soon as Dundee equalised we literally fell apart, the defenders are an absolute shambles, why Mixu chooses to play with a back 3 of Dixon, Gunning and Dilon I'll never know, desperate times right now, we're getting relegated, my only hope is that Rangers and Hibs are both promoted in order to give ourselves a realistic chance of winning next seasons Championship and thus gaining promotion back at the 1st attempt. Even the signing of goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima who has played for Japan probably won't be enough to save ourselves. Our next league match is against Celtic, we've got no chance Cry

The results from the weekend went as follows:

Dundee 2 Dundee Utd 1
Celtic 1 Partick Thistle 0
Inverness CT 2 Ross County 0
Kilmarnock 2 Hearts 2
Motherwell 3 Hamilton 3

Match between St Johnstone and Aberdeen was postponed due to waterlogged pitch! Blush

The updated league table looks like this Sad

Into the Championship and the results went as follows:

Dumbarton 0 Rangers 6
Hibernian 1 Raith Rovers 0
Livingston 0 Queen Of Sth 2
Morton 0 St Mirren 1
Alloa 0 Falkirk 0

Bad result for Falkirk dropping points away but as I always said its between Rangers and Hibs for the league with Rangers maintaining top spot with 47 and Hibs just behind them on 44. The league is still far too close to call in my opinion.

Re: International Soccer - General Discussion

Brazilian side Ibis Sport Club, who became known as the worst team in the world, have offered Jose Mourinho a route back into management. The offer was made on Brazil's equivalent of April Fool's Day, and the terms included a food hamper as the Portuguese's monthly salary, bonuses for every game he loses and the sack if he wins the title. Re: International Soccer - General Discussion

Today is officially the last game in Scotland before the 2 week winter break however a number of teams still have games in hand due to bad weather flooding out a lot of the pitches of late.

This afternoons fixtures go as as follows:

Dundee v Dundee Utd
Celtic v Partick Thistle
Inverness CT v Ross County
Kilmarnock v Hearts
Motherwell v Hamilton

For anybody who has UK SKY you'll be able to watch the Dundee v Dundee Utd derby live on SKY Sports 1 with a 12:30 kick off.

The league table as it currently stands and it doesn't look for good viewing if you're a Dundee Utd supporter which I am, as it stands we are staring relegation in the face, we'll need remarkable results as of now and the end of the season if we are to pull off what would be viewed as the greatest of great escapes Smile

Edit - Believe it or not we were once not only a top club in Scotland but also feared throughout Europe too! This 1990 official video will show you how and makes for interesting viewing for anybody who is unaware of our glorious history when in the 80's we achieved the impossible when we dared to dream Smile which includes footage of us beating Barcelona home and away back in 1987 - Yes Barcelona you heard me Big Grin
