Diary of a Formal 1 Race : 24-28 / 08 / 2011 Spa- Francorchamps : author : Shaky

Day 5 :

Sunday :28/08 : Race Day !!!
Alarm clock goes off at 04.00u ,so time to get up ! wit’s still dark when I open the curtains but I say it’s dry outside ..but will it stay dry ? After the normal stuff that you do when you get up it’s time to get into my car and drive to the circuit it’s now 05.30u when I leave the house .I arive at exactly 05.45u at the circuit ,thanks to this early time that I arive at the circuit I don’t have to pay for the parking because there is nobody here yet and also other people who are just behind me have the same luck ! After 5 minutes walk I arive at the gate I see allready people standing and sitting infront of the gate ,I thought that I was early but there allready people standing at the gate from 04.00u .Now it was waiting till the security would open the gate ,this did not happen until it was 07.40u .when they opend it everybody stormd inside but it was no use because they had to check your ticket, after mine was checked I went to my favorit place namely “ Pouchon” .As it was still early I had the luck to position myself where I wanted ,so I placed myself in the middle again so that I had a clear view .It was 08.15u and I saw pleople coming by to find a good place ,it was now waiting till 09.20u before something came on the track, and the 1st categorie that went out where the drivers of the Gp3 for there 2nd race ,as I don’t like that series I went to the paddock to go to the Merchandise place ,only this time I was not interested in the shops but it was at the Shell stand that I went because yesterday I saw that they had a stand with some interesting stuff in it ,namely they had a couple of playseats with the playstation3 game Formula1 2010 on it ,so everybody who would like to see what for effect it had to be in a seat with this game and with this track on the game could give it a try , I did not try because my cousin has a playseat of his own also with this game so I let other people play it . I went a bit further because for me this next thing was more interesting namely ..changing tyres , the meaning of this was that you had to do a pitstop ….there where at eatch side a team of 3 people ..one on the left side and one on the right side ,the F1 car of Felipe Massa was standing there on a platform ( a bit from the ground ) and you had to change his tyre as quick as posssible , ( meantime the moderator announced that the winner of the Gp3was Richie Stanaway ) ofcourse first the teams will have the change to practice and after the practice it was up for the fasted time ,as this was something that everybody wanted to do there where ofcourse a lot of people standing there until it was there turn ,I did not mind to wate because I was interested in something els ..as soon the first couple of teams did this test it was a short break and during this break there was a photographer of Shell and if you wanted he would take a photo of you next to the car of Felipe ..and ofcourse I did ,after this photo was taken I got a card from the photographer with webside adress on it and a personal code to upload your photo from there site .After this was done I went back to my place …when I came by the Merchandise stand of Schumi I could not resist to buy 2 more items of him , the person who helped me yesterday at this stand was saying that he allready will have a big bag holding aside for me J J J .Than it was time to get back to my place with picking up underway a Hamburger ( hmmm yammi ) .When I was back at my place at “ Pouchon “ there where a lot of more people now .At 10.30u till 11.20u it was the Gp2 who did there 2nd race ,for me the change too look around ,watching people going by and see what some of them where wearing as F1 fan ..hmmm a lot of people having caps of Hamilton on and just a fiew with caps of Champion Vetttel ,also it seemed that I was almost the only one with Ferrari clothing and cap because like I sayd before a lot of people with Hamilton stuff came by me .The driver who the Gp2 race was the t young driver Luca Filippi, there was one scary moment in this race namely the big crash of Stefano Coletti ,this was schocking to see because his car broke in half ,and it looked very serious ( later on the day I hear that his season is over because he broke 2 dorsal vertebra ) ! Than at 11.45u it where the drivers of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup who did there race , in this race I was more interested because here it was close racing pure ..i saw a lot of overtakings and it stayd exciting until the last lap ,people begon to cheer because this Porsche Cup was worth watching , the winner here was the Polish driver Kuba Giermaziak !Than when this race was at 12.20 it was waiting till 12.30u because than it will be the drivers parade ,so time to eat and drink something ! Than at 12.25u the big screen was back “ live “ again on air and also was the moderator “ live “ again ,at this time I saw the gridgirls of Shell standing in line on the left and right with in the middle a red carpet , there where also standing classic cars on the grid today ,so instead of the truck that we always see the drivers on it was with classic cars this time also because it was the 20th year that Schumi was in the Formula1 ,a couple seconds later i/we saw the drivers coming out there boxes ..but where was the birthday person Schumi ?….. aaaah he came as last outside ..everyone was aplauding ,cheering when Schumi came out and waved to his fans ,everyone of the drivers stept in a car but the 1st car was for Michael Schumacher . Schumi was with a reporter together in the car ,when the parade was underway the reporter asked question at Schumi and ofcourse Michael answerd them all .We all could see on the big screen where the divers where so the minute that I hear the people aplauding and cheering it was time for me to change my cap of Ferrari to the new and special cap of Schumi’s 20year , than I saw Schumi driving by ,I and many others cheered for there favorit driver ,for me it was 3 times aplauding because of my alltime favorit Schumi followed by Alonso and Felipe Massa . As the drivers where out of side it was returning to my cap of Ferrari again ! After the parade was done they stept out of there classic cars and returning to there boxes now it was waiting till 13.20u to see them all again . At 13.20u it was the time for the drivers to get in there F1 cars and drie there cars to the start grid , as the cars of Massa came by ( 2 times ! ) and the one of Alonso and Schumi I stoud up and aplauded ,than it was sitting down again and wait till they start , thank god that there was a big screen infront of me because I would’nd miss a thing ,so I could see them all standing there next to there car with there team engineer and giving the last details . Than it was 14.00u ..time for the formation/warm up lap ,when all the cars came by it was a tremendous/enormous sound of engines J than they all arrived at there starting place , I could see that there was a lot of smoke at the car of Rosberg …could this bin allready a bad sign ,.or was it just that he had warm breaks ? My heartbeat went faster when the lights where showing ( I always have this with the start of the race ),lights out and away they go . I saw on the screen that Rosberg did a good start ,also Felipe made a good start he was on the 3rd place now , when the 1st 3 cars came by I stoud up and shouted << Come On Felipe >> , I also saw Alonso coming by ..he had overtook Hamilton and I also shouted the same to him ..and than I saw Schumi coming by and I was counting how mutch places he climb up ..thankfully I saw on the screen the times and places, and I saw that Schumi was allready on the 14th place ,when I saw this I could not control myself and I shouted outloud < Yyyyyyyiiiihaaaa come on Schumi give it all you got >> ,some looked at me and they must have thought ..what the hell ? ..hahahaha ,but I did not care because I’m a die hard fan and can let myself go ! Than ..i think it was the 3rd round I saw that Vettel had took over the 1st place again L . Than there was a replay on the screen of the start ,I saw that there some collision between some cars ,one of them was a collision between Alonso and Alguersuari .. I thought that there could be a flat tyre at Alonso’s car but thanfully it was not ! I saw Felipe closing on Rosberg and I shouted outloud << Come on Felipe baby push push .you can do it come on >> ..for the record noooo I’m not Felipe’s Team engineer Rob Smedley J J ,but I also saw Alonso coming up to Felipe allready ..and if that was not enough I saw Hamilton also closing .. my heart and adrenaline was pumping in a high rev now …Alonso passed Massa and also Hamilton did this with almost a collision between the two of them …pff my heartbeat went waayyyyy up now ! I saw Vettel go in the box for his pitstop ,so now it was Rosberg again who was at 1st place followed by a closing Alonso , Alonso made a attack on Rosberg at the Bus stop but it was not enough so a dissapointment at that time ,but I saw Alonso closing again and this time it worked,so Alonso was 1st now ( yeeeeaaaah ) ,when Alonso came by Pouchon I cheered because he was 1st .Than it was the turn of Hamilton to pas Rosberg and that went smooth so now it was Hamilton who became 2nd and was closing on Alonso , I saw Hamilton getting closer and ofcourse it was now time of the Hamilton fans to cheer ,I was getting a bit frustraded because I saw Hamilton realy getting close .Than it was the pitstop of Alonso ,when he came to his pitbox my eyes where focused on the pitstop time ,than he came out of the box again and came back on the track just before Webber ,but sadly Webber tyres where ofcourse at tempature and Alsonso’s where not so Webber passed Alonso at Eau Rouge ..dammed that was close ,but than Alsonso overtook Webber again just after the Raidillon ,the both of them also passed Sutil . I saw that Schumi was on a good pace because now he was at the 10th place ( yihaaa ) . Than something happened that was too mutch for some people next to me and behind me ..they whee going << OOooooh ..f**k ..Ooooh >> because there favorit driver Hamilton crashed , I stayd calm because I know how a person can feel when something like this happens with your favorit driver ! So now it was time for the safetycar to come out ,when this happened Vettel went in the box for a pitstop ,so Alonso was now again at 1st place ..and there was a short cheer from me for this J and also a cheer and aplaus for Felipe because he was still at 4th place and there was even a bigger cheer and aplaus because I saw Schumi had climb up one place to 9th ! When the safetycar came back in Alonso stayd 1st but Vettel overtook Webber so Vettel on 2nd place .Than I saw on the screen that Alonso and Vettel where next to eatchother and at Les Combes it happened L Vettel passed Alonso ,so I was getting pissed that this happened so quickly ,the next round when Alonso came by I shouted << come on dammed get back up there ,push push >> , thank god that I still saw Schumi climbing up ,he was now at 7th place ! Than another dissapointment for me L I saw Button closing on Massa for 5th place ,at the outside of the Bus stop chicane I saw it happening Buton took the 5th place of Felipe L ..i was not amused ! After some pitstops it was again Vettel who was 1st with behind him Alonso, Webber, Button than I saw that Schumi did a attack on Sutil ,I went almost crazy because now I saw Schumi on the 6th place J , now the next driver to catch was his team mate Nico Rosberg , I shouted << come on Schumi you can do it ! >> ,but when this was happening I saw that Button was closing on Alonso and at Les Combes it happened ..Button had snatched the 3rd place of Alonso …I was furious that this happend soo easy and so quickly ,when Alonso came by I did the Italian hand signal to him ..un-be-lieve-ble he lost so easy the 3rd place… dammed .Allready I saw that it was impossible to catch Vettel ,so the victory would be for him L . Than the forelast lap I saw that Schumi did the attack on Rosberg ..and he took him ..Schumi took the 5th place from Rosberg ..yyyyyiiiiihhhaaaaaa weldone Schumi whoehoe ..yeeeee ..my voice was sooooo fucked up/broken of all this shouting that I could not say mutch anymore . Also dissapointment for me because I saw Alonso finishing on the 4 place and Felipe at the 8th place ,but I congratulated the fans of Vettel because he won fair and drove a clean race ,they could apriciate this from a die hard fan of Ferrari and Schumi fan J
After the finish the cars do normaly there victory lap ,but here in Francorchamps they don’t do that so I packed all my stuff and prepaired myself to do for the last time the climb of the hill, this time it went mutch better than the previous days but also a bit slow because everyone was climbing up to get to there cars ,when I was ariving at the gate I was a bit surpriced because there where no security gards to do the checkout of the ticket ,so I went on to the parking to get to my car and drive home ,first I drove to my rent house to clean it and pack my stuff and than I did the key away to the concierge and than it was finally going home ,when I drove home I was replaying these 5 days that I had ..and that gave me a smile al the way until I was home again ..and I also must say I was allready thinking of buying tickets for next year ! So guys and girls this was my last diary day of Formula1 I hope you enjoyd reading it like I did writing it for you fans and people who where interested in it !
So that's it from the Shell Belgian Grand Prix at the Sp-Francorchamps circuit !
My Thanks to everyone who pressed on the Thank You !!!

Kind Regards

ferrari 250 monzaCool

The Monza 250 is a car from the competition produced by Ferrari in 1954 in four copies.
The model arose from the connection of the chassis of the 750 Monza with the engine of the 250 MM . The latter was a V12 to 60 º, and was designed by Gioacchino Colombo .
The car was characterized by the gearbox mounted in the rear , which provided a more balanced weight distribution . The "250 Monza" were also installed suspension including a rear De Dion axle , which improves road holding .
Four copies were made with the body boat whose line was designed by Dino Ferrari . Two were built by Pininfarina , and inspired the 500 Mondial . The other pair was hand built by Scaglietti , and their design reminiscent of the 750 Monza .
The model debuted in competitions under the sign of Ferrari on 6 June 1954 at the 12 Hours of Hyeres , where he was victorious, led by Louis Piotti and Maurice Trintignant . This specimen was the only one not to be sold to private customers from the House of the "prancing horse", and not follow other important victories, the other three were sold and were awarded several Italian races, including the Tour of Umbria. Then one of them came fifth in the Carrera Panamericana of 1954.

ferrari f50gtCool

The F50 GT was a car racing built by Ferrari in 1996 . He was also known as F50 GT1 and derived from the Ferrari F50 .
It was built to participate in the races of the BPR Global GT Series . Had motor and pull back. The engine was a V12 and had a displacement of 4.7 L .
Externally, the GT was characterized by 2 large air vents on the hood for the disposal of the hot radiators . The muzzle was also equipped with a spoiler to ground level in order to convey more effectively in the air underneath the vehicle thus improving the ' ground effect . This was achieved thanks to an aerodynamic extractor located under the rear of the vehicle and an adjustable rear wing. Above the cockpit, there was an air intake that carried the flow of air to the intake manifold of the engine .
The technical changes compared to the F50 , directly handled by the racing department , led to impressive power output of 160 hp / liter, and the power to weight ratio of 1.213 kg / hp. The result was a car from 750 hp at 10,500 rpm / min (values for the non-flanged power unit according to FIA rules) and weighing 860 kg which, when parked, could reach 100 km / h in under 2.9 s expressing a top speed of 376 km / h.
In September 1996, Nicola Larini , the Ferrari F1 test driver, took the prototype test of the F50 GT on the Fiorano Circuit , and the car marked interesting lap times, making it even faster than the Ferrari 333 SP . His potential rivals would have been: Porsche 911 GT1 , Mercedes CLK GTR AMG , McLaren F1 GTR .
The Ferrari opted to not put it into production, and only three examples were built, more precisely, a prototype and two models aimed at wealthy clients. The arrival of special cars homologated as the aforementioned Porsche 911 GT1 in the BPR Global GT Series pushed the Ferrari not to proceed with the project.

Re: Formula 1 General Chat & Discussion

montecarlo circuitBig Grin
The Monaco circuit is the street circuit on the streets of the Principality of Monaco over which the annual Monaco Grand Prix of Formula 1 races and contour as the Formula 3 , the Formula 3000 and now the GP2 Series .
The circuit is a sort of connection between Formula 1 and now what it once was. In a calendar that has gradually seen the entry of ultra-modern and very safe race tracks (like the circuit of Manama in Bahrain and that of Sepang in Malaysia ), Monaco brings to mind the old Grand Prix, where the risk and the ability of the pilots were in the foreground. Obtained using the streets of the city center, in its 55 year history, this circuit has written many pages, many dramatic and memorable.
The circuit, which has always had a base length of 3 km (in the years minor changes have been made but have not affected the original plan), running between the buildings of the historic center. After the departure is facing a right-hander said Sainte Devote (in honor of the patron saint of Monaco) followed by an uphill section, the Beau Rivage .
After the curve to the left of Massenet , the cars facing the curve Casino to reach the curve Haute Mirabeau and the subsequent tight hairpin Hairpin Grand Hotel (formerly Loews and Old Station ), the curve closer and slower world of Formula One, which leads to two right-handers ( Bas Mirabeau and Portier ). From here the cars come fast bend in Tunel , covered, after which there is the Nouvelle Chicane . The track here is developed around the dock of the Principality, and came to the crease on the left Tabac (or Tobacconist ) placing on a double chicane (the first of which took the name Louis Chiron and the second is called pools ). The trail enters it in its final part, with the cars facing the hairpin Rascasse and the final curve to the right, named after Anthony Noghes (tobacco merchant and organizer of the first editions of the Rally of Monte Carlo and the Monaco Grand Prix), for Finally returning to the starting straight.
The new pit lane.
Difficult, because of its folds and its insidious drains, with ruthless pilots called to a number of gear changes than any other Formula One race and forced to do the slightest mistake, Monaco has always winners graduated from the best riders ever.
On these streets found glory as champions Ayrton Senna , who has won it six times (including five consecutive from 1989 to 1993 ), Michael Schumacher , Graham Hill , Alain Prost , Gilles Villeneuve . In the past, were drivers like Juan Manuel Fangio and Jack Brabham to excite the fans. Senna was launched at the highest levels of F1 just to be a race at this circuit, in the edition 1984 . He found it under a deluge of leading an incredible comeback of Alain Prost driving in his Toleman . The comeback was blocked only by a recess.
In addition to exceptional businesses, the circuit was often the scene of tragic episodes. In 1967 the Italian Lorenzo Bandini died of burns caused by the accident (and subsequent burning) which saw him starring in the harbor chicane all'ottantaduesimo around. In 1955 Alberto Ascari , with his lance , he ended up in the sea at the same point, fortunately without bruising back. In 1994 , during qualifying, Karl Wendlinger nearly died following a bad accident at the tunnel exit. Then to remember the numerous accidents that have consequences that have followed over the years.
The circuit of Monte Carlo remained essentially unchanged since its introduction in 1929, is related to the shape of the streets of the principality. These changes have now been always linked to changes in the city road network.
In the early editions of the Grand Prix, departure and arrival were placed on the straight opposite the pits, on the waterfront. At that time there were no pools of the complex, nor of the Rascasse hairpin. After the curve of the Tobacconist, the route proceeded semirettilineo suddenly, with performance similar to straight start today, and the two were drawn together by a single hairpin, called the Gasometer. In 1972, the start was moved to current location, on the opposite straight, while the boxes were installed in the port area of the chicane, moved closer to the curve of the tobacconist. The final solution was to install the boxes on the starting straight, but it was necessary for further work.
In 1973 the track was modified in several places, because of new civil construction: the construction of a new hotel in the area of the bend of the Old Station (Loews Hotel) involved a lengthening of the tunnel, which now began much closer to the curve of the Goalkeeper . After the Tabac corner of the complex of pools was built, so the track was modified to get around it, with two "S" (left-right-left and right) connected by a short straight. In the next section, the construction of a restaurant (Rascasse) forced to eliminate the curve of the Gasometer and replace it with a curve (named after the restaurant), located at the current position. After the hairpin opened the entrance to the new box (with a separate lane from the track) on the right and then straight back on the road with the curve Noges dedicated to Anthony.
In 1976, the curves were modified Sainte Devote, Anthony Noges to make them slower, re-profile guards and curbs in accordance with what is the plan today.
In 1986, thanks to the widening of the roadway in the area of the Port of the chicane, the same variant was modified and made more slowly, with two curves at right angles, instead of the quick change of direction previously used, and deemed too dangerous. The configuration corresponds to that currently in use.
Was modified in 1997 the first variant of the pools, rendered slightly faster, but especially moving protections to improve visibility for pilots.
In 2003, the latest changes, which led to the current shape of the track: the second variant of the pools underwent treatment similar to that of the first variant, with the shifting of the barriers for improved visibility. At the same time, however, were placed curbs temporary profile that made it much slower. The most significant change however was the expansion of the asphalt, on the waters of the port: in this way, the stretch between the Pool and Rascasse became more direct and straight, making it faster (and less demanding) approach to the hairpin. The space gained was used to accommodate new platforms and to expand the pit lane (which is obtained using the wide sidewalk on the side of the starting straight, and whose output is between two of the existing row of trees there, with the addition a little "slip" of asphalt to repair the slope of the road than the sidewalk), with the installation of permanent buildings on two floors, where the teams stay with the technicians and the material.
In addition, by 2004 the pit lane has been revised, with a reversal of the position of the lane and the same box. In the current configuration, in fact, the pit lane is no longer separated from the track only through the "wall", but also from the same box.
Changes at the chicane of the port has been requested by the pilots to the Federation after the incidents of 2011, due both to the bumps at the end of the tunnel, both the position and the traffic island in the escape.

Re: Formula 1 General Chat & Discussion

jody scheckter

Jody David Scheckter (born January 29, 1950) is a South African former auto racing driver, the 1979 Formula One World Drivers Champion.

He rapidly ascended to the ranks of Formula One after moving to Britain in 1970. His Formula 1 debut occurred at Watkins Glen in 1972 with McLaren where he ran as high as third place before spinning and finishing ninth. Immediately becoming a name to watch, he continued his development the following year, winning the Formula 5000 championship and racing five times in F1. In France, he almost won in his third start in F1 before crashing into Emerson Fittipaldi, the reigning World Champion, who said after the crash about Scheckter: "This madman is a menace to himself and everybody else and does not belong in Formula 1." In his next start, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Scheckter was involved in a big accident which took nearly a dozen cars out of the race. The Grand Prix Drivers Association demanded his immediate banishment, which was only put off when McLaren agreed to rest their driver for four races. [2] Scheckter's McLaren M23 bore the number zero during the Canadian and American Grands Prix of 1973. Scheckter is one of only two F1 drivers to compete under this number, the other being Damon Hill.
Tyrrell in 1974 gave him his first full-time drive in F1. Jody rewarded them with a third-place finish in the drivers' championship and a pair of wins in Sweden and Britain. During the year, he scored points in eight consecutive races, one of the longer scoring streaks of the time. A slight off-year followed, although he did become the only South African to win the South African Grand Prix, but his third year with the team in 1976 gave him another third place finish in the drivers' championship. In that season, Tyrrell introduced the most radical car in F1 history, the six-wheeled Tyrrell P34. Scheckter gave the six-wheeler its only win on Sweden's Anderstorp circuit and in his twelve races with the car, he scored points ten times. This included a thrilling race-long battle for the lead in the American Grand Prix between himself and his great friend James Hunt.
Scheckter left for Walter Wolf's new team in 1977 and Scheckter gave the team a win in its maiden race. He won twice more with the team and was often on the podium, but finished second on points behind a more dominant Niki Lauda. A seventh-place finish with the team in 1978 followed and he left the team after the season to join Ferrari to partner Gilles Villeneuve in the team's ground effect 312T4 car.
Critics felt he would not get along well with management at Ferrari, but he far surpassed expectations and helped give F1's most recognizable team another constructors' championship, while Scheckter's consistent finishes, with three wins among them, gave him the drivers' championship in 1979.[2] However, he struggled very badly in his 1980 title defence, even failing to qualify for one race. After managing only two points, Scheckter retired from the team and the sport. Scheckter was the last driver to win a drivers' championship for Ferrari until Michael Schumacher 21 years later.
In 1981, Scheckter won the World Superstars competition in Key Biscayne, Florida. He defeated athletes such as Russ Francis, Renaldo Nehemiah, Peter Mueller, Rick Barry, Gaetan Boucher and Andy Ripley. In 1983 he was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
After Scheckter's retirement, he founded FATS Inc, a company which built firearms training simulators for military, law enforcement and security organizations. The sale of the company provided funds to allow Scheckter to help the racing careers of his sons Tomas and Toby. Tomas races in the Indy Racing League where he has won two races. Scheckter's brother, Ian, also raced in F1 for a few years.
In 2004 Scheckter was reunited with his championship-winning Ferrari at the South African two-seater F1x2 Charity Grand Prix at Kyalami in South Africa.
Scheckter was a guest commentator for ITV during the 1999 San Marino Grand Prix, replacing Martin Brundle.
Scheckter now spends his time as an organic farmer, having bought Laverstoke Park Farm, near Overton, Hampshire, 40 miles (64 km) west of London. As an organic farming expert, Scheckter was featured in 2005 on the Visionhealth DVD and TV documentaries "Asthma: An Integrated Approach", "Arthritis: An Integrated Approach" and "Diabetes: An Integrated Approach". On February 26, 2008, he also appeared on the Horizon television show to make a case for organic food. In December 2009, Scheckter announced his intention to produce a biodynamic sparkling wine by 2012. He is married and has six children: two, Toby and Tomas, from his previous wife Pamela; and four, Hugo, Freddie, Ila and Poppy, from his current marriage to Clare.

ferrari imolaCool

This time, an Italian one that could give plenty of ideas to the designers at Ferrari. The another design by John Mark Vicente: the Ferrari Imola, after the sublime Bugatti Renaissance concept. The enormous rims and semi-slick tires underline the aggressiveness of the vehicle. This supercar is ready to take on the road monsters like Ariel Atom, Caparo T1, KTM X-Bow and especially the Lotus Elise.
According to the author, his Ferrari concept car is inspired by the Ferrari F70 created by Randy Rodriguez and the Dino Competizione by Sacha Selipanov.
Imola is a spider without windscreen and has a future hybrid Ferrari V6 engine. The designer used triangular and trapezoidal shapes to create the head and tail lights and the grille.
