A total other one of my favorite tunes in two versions.
"Die Gedanken sind frei" is a German song about the freedom of thought. The text and the melody can be found in Lieder der Brienzer Mädchen, printed in Bern, Switzerland between 1810 and 1820. The original lyricist and the composer are unknown, though the most popular version was rendered by Hoffmann von Fallersleben in his 1842 collection Folk Songs With Melodies. The version in English. and in German with English and Chinese subtitlesThe lyrics (from Wikipedia): Verse 1: Thoughts are free, who can guess them? They flee by like nocturnal shadows. Hm an extended weekend in Germany, but why ?
03 October 1990 / 03 October 2011 I stayed at the Monday-demonstrations in Leipzig during the autumn 1989 and proud about this.
