It is true, Galahad, today, the festivals of the song have turned into something that, for his low quality, already nobody is interested in.
A good example can be, the Eurovision Song Contest.

To Syd Barrett, shit happened Sad
Due to worsening mental health problems, some say due to excessive LSD use whilst those close to him dispute it, Syd became a very unreliable member of the band. Dave Gilmour took on an increasing responsibility to cover this problem and so Syd's contribution to and influence over the band faded.
The result being the Pink Floyd we all know.

"If Syd Barret hadn't left ..."? ... Who knows Cool

If the Italian music of the 60, is magnificent, in French is equally good.

Ne Me Quitte Pas. For me and for many, the most beautiful song of love of all the times.
Jacques Brel. For me, the best Belgian singer of all the times.

José Feliciano - Malagueña
I do not know if this can be considered to be an rarity, but what yes that I know is that the blind guitarist José Feliciano, does an impressive version of the "Malagueña" song of Ernesto Lecuona.
Look what he does, only with the left hand, from the minute 2.
