After RS announced their new terms of service I mostly switched to depositfiles, but I got some PM from users outside Europe where it doesn't work. And the upload tool they provide is totally crap Sad So I'm still looking for a better alternative.
Maybe I'll try multiupload, but if I didn't miss something, then I don't have download statistics anymore which are sometimes interesting.
i don't know what was the problem but i hope not will happen like MUSad
What ever their problem is, my problem is, with 1GB traffic per day for my free account the files will be mostly not accessible anymore so most of them will be deleted soon because of lack of downloads.
But buying a premium account and still have a pretty strong limitation is not an option for me.
50GB per day were acceptable, but 30GB is not enough as long as they offer unlimited download speed for all.

There's also "D-points" system.
D-Points - are Points you get for downloading files.
1 your download of a file large than 20 MB = D-Point.

...but counting this points works only sometimes and not when Gold status is activated.

Easy choice...for me...

Personally i use DF for 3 months: forced migration after the Oron's crash.
I always hated RS, so the choice was very fast.

Some huge uploaders i know use Ryushare, apparently a very nice hoster for downloading: i downloaded hundreds of files from it: fast, no advertising, no weird captcha to enter (just a number) and just 28 seconds to wait (sometimes a bit longer if you multiply the downloads).
I registred as a free user and tried to upload in it without any success, it seems the uploading function doesn't work from France...Cry

To finish...ConfusedBig Grin...i will say that it depends on the files you upload: DF is very strict regarding copyright stories, i post softcore stuffs: oops and hot TV sequences, so they continue to store my files, i don't know how they can react with more explicit items...Cool

A torrid night to the readers Cool

Re: Your preferred hosting service

So, for me at least, it's looking like a 3 horse race.
1. RapidShare
2. Deposit Files
3. Hotfile

I have a premium account with RS at present and about a year to go. It all very much depends on post 27th as to what happens and what I may do.
There's little to chose between Deposit Files and Hotfile in terms of functionality, retention, limits, price, and other comments/recommendations from users.
The main factors for me would be how easy or not for others to download the content I post, and payment options available. For the latter, I'm less keen on Deposit Files as you can't pay with PayPal. For the former, Deposit Files is better for non-members of their service. So neither one wins outright...

I've looked around at other services, and in all honesty the service from RS will still be better than most if not all others. The 30Gb per 24 hours is very generous when you compare with others (e.g. Mediafire is only 50Gb a month on the personal paid service, and if you want something equivalent to RS then it will cost you $24 a month).
30GB may be generous, but it's not enough. No matter if others are worse.

Re: Your preferred hosting service

There's a secondary consideration/question here which is around spreading the risk of loosing your online data.
So, can I also ask people to recommend (with comments as to why) good services that provide multiple uploads to hosting companies.
This way we can upload once, but have the data on 2 or more hosting services.
I've looked at a few and they're all limited in one way or another, and also the remote upload/download within some of the hosting companies doesn't work that well.
Thoughts ?

Re: Your preferred hosting service

With the new rules coming to RS i've decided to give "Hotfiles" a try, 400MB file size limit on upload for free users and 90 days before they delete dead files, not sure what the limit is for total storage though Blush if you download a file you need to wait 30 minutes to download a second one.

Anyway just a test of options for now rather than recommend Smile

Re: Your preferred hosting service

I use Rapidshare ( the best IMO), ryushare and filepost for videos and ImageBam for the pics.
Sometimes Rapidgator but I've no premium account at that time (expired).

Rapidshare

I used to like Rapidgator until I recently got really low speeds from it for some odd reason.

Re: Your preferred hosting service

just for my own interest and because it's a difficult topic at the moment:
which one is the prefered hoster at the moment or which hoster should be used for vids?

my prefered hoster is and will probably be RS (at least for the next 5 years or until my account is closed) but I see also several other hosters used in the forum and I see several hoster changes, too.
as I'm not interested in weekly hoster switching I'd like to know your opinion about the existing OCHs and which one should be included in posting. I personally would add only links of hosters which offer a Remote Upload from RS because it takes only a few mins for me but offers better downloads for you. at the moment I try also uploads to RapidGator (often used @ other tits & pussy websites) and try to make some accounts at other hosters to try the remote uploads but I'm still not sure which one is the best.
so every suggestion about this topic is welcome. Smile
