Re: Rapidshare changes?

Well having spent the last hour of my life wasted in deleting the oldest and least downloaded files from my RS premium account to get in back down to less than 500Gb stored, I can safely say I can't be arsed any more with their service.
I'll leave what's left there now to wither and die, and any new content will be uploaded to my new premium account with 1fichier. A mere 60euro for lifetime membership and unlimited storage, with sensible download limits for non-members. A no brainer as they say...

Re: Rapidshare changes?

My congratulations go to RS for wasting its premium members time having to 1, workout how the f**k to create contacts and adding them Thumb up and now 2, merging your contacts to your public traffic allowance so now reads as 100GB daily Thumb up

Well done and look forward to you having 3 people total using your services in the future Smile

Re: Rapidshare changes?

Update:
The implementation for the changes has been postponed, so that you have more time to adapt to the new regulations.

25th of March 2013: The new storage limit (RapidPro customers 250GB and 500GB, Free User 5 GB) will be activated.

8th of April 2013: Files which succeed the limitations will be deleted at 24:00 CET on the 8th of April 2013 automatically.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Still awaiting reply/quote from them for two accounts. 2.1GB and 3.9GB, after seeing quiquems post, doubt i will use them for much longer,

You too eh? I scoured a bunch of threads last night and as a result have a huge queue of RS files downloading at the moment. Only to read that they've now extended the date to April 3d for when they begin deleting files.
Seems they have a problem with traffic for saving of files Big Grin
As they have removed the limit of 1GB per day for my own downloads I was thinking about downloading all files just to create traffic, on the other hand I don't want to steal bandwidth of people who really need to save their files.
Just wondering what RS will do with all that free disk space on their servers Blush

TorrentFreak was told that a user asked RapidShare how much it would cost to host around 2TB of files and was given a price of 120 euros ($155) per month
Around 2tb? That guys got nothing on quiquems. Big Grin

My reply was
Hi,

Thanks for the reply but it must be a joke. Do you really think I'm going to pay 3700 € for an account that has download limits and you can close when you want(as you did with my account long ago)?

After three years with RS I can say that anymore, it is a joke the constant changes every month from Rapidhare.
Well fortunately there are more file hosters with better services and cheaper(free)

Bye

Bullshit Thumb down

Thank you for your reply.

I’m sorry to hear that you do not accept the individual product offer we personally made for you. Unfortunately it is not possible for us to offer you a different price at this time.

What happens now?
At the 20.03.2013 the new plans will be active. All RapidPro customers will automatically get the 250GB storage plan. If you want the 500GB storage plan, please choose it on our homepage. Please note, if you choose the 500GB plan, the runtime will be halved.

At the 03.04.2013 the deletion rules starts. Therefore make sure you save all your data, if you exceed the storage limit. The deletion rules can be found here:

Re: Rapidshare changes?

I guess they liked the idea of different packages that was introduced by Mega.
but if I compare the packages of RS and Mega (Mega: 500 GB = 9.99 per month; 2 TB = 19.99 per month; 4 TB = 29.99 per month) I'll have to assume that they like a successful Mega even more than the won success or even existence. Tongue

maybe the package prices of Mega could be a good answer to the RS mail. ;)

[quote]We have the following individual product options for you:

Epic! No way that the tech support could send message like that with a straight face.

More and more it looks like there was some kind of a hostile takeover in the company and they want to destroy RS. At this rate you will have to pay just to log in, lol.

Re: Rapidshare changes?

Well I got a response this morning off them in regards to my complaint. Needless to say it was just a load of bullshit and hot air about how good they are. Thumb down

They did say I could request more storage on request, but they don't seem to want to let you know what the cost of such a service would be, so that makes me suspicious straight away, as they could charge a different price to each customer, and we would have no way of knowing.

They even had the cheek to say that they have increased my public traffic allowance to 100GB per day. And they think that justifies placing storage restrictions & doubling the price. That's a hell of an insentive to stay with them. Give the free users the bonus, but offer nothing to the guy that pays. Thumb downThumb downThumb down

Needless to say, my response to that is not publishable on here. Big Grin

The problem you need an advocte for Swiss law.
In Germany they had no chance to change their terms of business without refunding the money for the rest of the period you have paid.
And for deleting your data on short notice without a possibility to backup them (Download ~400GB in 10days is only possible with with a few internet service providers) they may even be liable for prosecution.
But in Swiss it's possibly different, I don't know.
