Popups From Hell

Since the start of this year I have noticed more aggressive popups starting to emerge.

In the past few weeks, I noticed some on more ones I visited without issues previously. The obvious ones are those that popup behind your browser, which I don't see an issue in but, just annoying But I was visiting a site I know and it decided that I need mac keeper and won't allow you to continue, the only option is that you have to close your browser. Now that was not much fun Now around 3 weeks ago I visited a site I had visited many times, it was not the site that was the issue but, I needed to click on a pic to enlarge, this was the start of a barrage of around 20 - 30 popups and needless to say, completely locked out my browser. I force quit and open on the same popups locking it again and making it useless. I had to go offline and open the browser to clean them. Once offline it still managed another popup telling me I need to be online. Cleaning those pages did not take too long but, with my browser open I had to clean 2 days of browsing history or most likely I would still have problems

Anyway this is just a thread so if others encounter problems with popups, if they want can add their way out of the problem, also mention sites you're most likely to find the ones from hell.

Needless to say, i'm now put off visiting those sites for the time being I doubt that's the intention but it killed it for me

Oh ok just forgot to say that i'm using a software called Trojan Killer for the process .

95% of my browsing is through Safari and could be the weakness. Good point

Sadly I have had add block + for the past 2 years. Now please take notice of my point

Oh i hate when that happened i remember i had a similar issue before and it was a Trojan/Virus .. your computer needs to be cleaned/scanned .
For your browser try installing Adblock plus really helpful for those annoying popups , good luck

Hi Scottishbloke. Sadly the first site I can not name due to, if I posted, it would go on the radar and be closed down very quickly So I must decline giving that info out

The second and most aggressive was a third party pic host who I have never seen before but, I can't recall the name The popups were not about porn but more focussed on just bombarding you with stuff such as mac keeper and my new favourite of the met police page telling you it has taken your details and will screw your computer if you do not pay via ******.

I wish I could give more detail, mainly of the latter but, if it happens again, I now have this thread to write the info

Which sites would they be Daz Yes I once had a similar problem where everything I searched for brought up a list of porn sites. I had to do a full factory restore
