ok then guys another dim question from the forums most technophobic member
so hoping one of you technical genii can point me in the right direction... I got my mac mini and although I'm struggling with the setup / control which I'm sure aren't as different to a pc as I think, I've got it working... But how do I record streams with it? It came shipped with Quicktime which has a recorder, but I can only get it to record my cam not a stream! (not good!) or it will screen record... but do I need some different software to record streams? (preferably audio & video) I've got the channels covered using jacksta on my pc, so this is specifically to record Facetime... can anyone help? Please!! (let me know if you need anymore info, but I haven't even sussed how to find what os I've got yet!) thanks G |

Great for movies and games yes, also for video calling reading this kind of message still not so great. |

To watch films and maybe to play games a TV is good, but for internet and office and things like that I don't real like it, though I have a not too bad 40" Full HD TV. Somehow small letters are still better to read on the normal display of my notebook. OK, maybe the mac has a better scaleability of the letters, in Windows some menus and text boxes are not enough scaleable so they are very small at 1920x1080. Regards Joker |

Your right Joker on that but, there is some out there though but reviews are a bit Hmmm on them, hit and miss and sadly mainly miss i would update my monitor too i'm afraid G, so end result around £600 pounds but, i still think more value for money than just getting a phone. |

dazaman wrote:Hi G, looking at this a bit more seriously in the cold light of day... but I know nothing about macs.... presumably the mac mini is just like a desktop - so needs to be connected to a monitor (doesnt say vga on the spec I'm looking at) but it doesn't mention a 'facetime' camera, so can I use my logitech hd? and operating system is IO X - is that later than IO 7 or just different?... guess a visit to currys is on then cards... |

dazaman wrote:Hi G, thanks Daz, thought of that but not really in a position to do either at the moment, so was wondering about upgrading my pay monthly mobile to an iphone (and prob just 4S, at least initially) - so a few extra £ per month but no major investment... only have a laptop at the mo as my desktop packed in a while back and was thinking of replacing that soon, so maybe I'll think about a mac instead, but its gonna take me a few months to get it together and wanted this a bit quicker! |

misterG wrote:hi guys, Hi G, For me i would rather go for a mac mini at £499 rather than a phone at £549 and more apps better storage and so on, i used a mac mini for 4 years, btw normal size screen needed of course but less chance of killing eyes too quick |

hi guys,
have always been pc user and a bit of a technophobe, but a certain someone has joined saucytime and they use facetime - so it looks like I may be investing in an iphone... but before I make any major investment, please can anyone advise: 1) there was some talk about making facetime pc compatible, but it looks like its not been done yet - is that still the case? 2) is it possible to record facetime videochat on an iphone? 3) once I've recorded it, can I copy it onto my windows pc? (ie would it be a compatible video file and can I direct connect an iphone to a pc or do I have to use some middleware?) any guidance appreciated! thanks G |

Updated my iPad yesterday evening without any problems.
iOS7 ? Well, need to get used to. Seems to me more like the look and feel of Android, however, with Apple features. Slow |
