So...
finally - after almost 4 years membership in this forum I have reached the magical 500 posts mark and will get my 5th star!  500 posts in 4 years, written in less or more correct English - my former English teacher would be proud of me. But compared with other members you can call me a snail.  Anyway I want to dedicate this post to this great forum and all members here and want to say thank you to everybody! In 2007 I found ETV in my Channel list and some month later I was searching in Google for it and ended up here. After endless days (and nights) of reading and lot of rolling my dictionary , I found the video-section and downloaded all what I could get of my favorite - it was like 3x birthday and Christmas together. In the following years this forum became more important for me than watching ETV and now I can't imagine ETV without it! Here it's interesting, funny, informative, childish, annoying, frustrating but never boring! - In contrary to ETV in the last time.  I'm proud to be a part of it!  Thanks folks!! Best regards logic |

Another comment upon the inevitable
Once there lived a man who had a bird. The bird had come to him one day when there had been an open bird-cage placed near an open window in the man´s house. The man, seeing the bird fly into the cage to catch some food, had quickly closed the little door and trapped the bird, for he wanted to look at it and hoped to hear it sing. He kept the bird in the cage for a long time, but the bird would not sing. But its beauty fascinated the man so that he wanted the bird to stay with him anyway. Its plumage was exquisite and its shape and its movements were beyond compare. Even its eyes, when it looked at the man, were so tantalizing that the man became spellbound, almost unable to move or speak. The rumour of this extraordinary specimen spread widely and soon people from all over the country came visiting the man´s home to look at the bird and admire it. Even from other countries far away many men came travelling. At times, so many of them were gathered, that the neighbors began to complain that there was so much noise and unrest. The man was so fond of his bird that he was dreaming of it night and day and in the evenings, when he was on his way home from work, he couldn´t restrain himself from running. The bird seemed to reign over his mind completely. But this bird was not meant to be kept in a cage. It was created to fly freely whereever its whimsy took it. The man noticed that the bird did not feel well. Feathers began to loose some of their brightness and the movements were no longer as before. He understood what was wrong and he said to himself that he would release the bird. But not quite yet. He was afraid of losing what he thought was the most precious of all his belongings. One day when the man came home, he found the cage open and empty. He realized that he had been careless and he felt a deep sorrow and also anger towards himself. When he stood there near the open window in a mood of deepest despair, he heard a faint sound coming from the windowsill. He looked up and saw the bird there, looking at him. He was never to forget that moment as long as he lived. Now the bird´s feathers were brighter than ever. The movements were beautiful, even more so than he had ever seen before. But the strangest thing of all was the look in the bird´s eyes. When he thought of it later, it was as if, in this last glance that the bird gave him, it wanted to say to him: ”Don´t be sad. Look at me now!” For now it took to the wings, swirled through the air and gained height, upwards through the air until finally its longtime admirer could no longer see it. He gazed at the sky, resting in that position while tears now began to erase the last hope of catching another glimps of the jewel that was no longer his. And with tears still running down his face he began instead to see clearly inside himself. He thought about the time that had passed and what it had brought to him. Then he thought of the time ahead and what it would bring , he felt sure, to his beloved bird. And the feeling inside him changed and the tears, now running a little faster, were no longer tears of sorrow but of pure joy. |
