Old habits die hard - ETV read this and act upon it

My last topic for 2007 so I wish you all a Happy New Year.

And I do hope that 2008 will be a happy new year for you but I have many doubts about this.

Yesterday I went to great length to try to convince you that you had to return the tv to those that matter - the people who actually keep you in existence. Yet you go to even greater lengths to make those people turn off.

A few weeks ago, you introduced a lot of animated graphics on to your screens which would promote your services. They take away some of the viewing area but atleast for now the program that is left is not ferther disrupted by commercials.

One of the more glitzy animated graphics is the one for the VIP SMSs. Now that is a good idea. Show that and you need not cut away from what action is left on the screen to show the LCD/Plasmas which just beg for people to send these messages.

But what do you do ? You cut away every minute or so and just show that LCD/Plasma screen and keep that screen in view for minutes on end.

And what happens when someone actually sends a VIP SMS ? You disrupt that requested action several times by showing the message.

This is EXACTLY what you were doing when you introduced the service. You bet the senders of the messages were pleased to see that just as I am sure that the senders are pleased now.

And I'm equally sure that the people who still call are pleased to see a LCD/Plasma screen instead of the girl on the line.

Or indeed you may wonder why they do not call. Could it be because they are simply turned off by seeing a LCD/Plasma on their tv ?

Yes, the very tool that is meant to provide the tv's content actually destroys the content.

I wish you well for the forthcoming year. You may just need it.
