New Moon Over Molvania

aka Shine A Light On Me

Day Five. This is late. Bet you all hoped he had forgotten.

Sad Old Dingbat, or SOD to keep it short and simple, that I am, I still record most of the overnight/early shows in the faint hope that something will actually happen. Auntie Julia has been known to get up early on occasions but even her offerings have lost much of the glitter that they had.

But it was with some pleasant surprise when I viewed what those who were actually awake at 06:00 saw live. Here was a show with an actual script. It certainly did not have the look or feel of a show from Auntie Julia. In fact it reminded me more of a pyjama show from 2007 which was then directed by Megita. So the concept was not entirely new but it was nicely mixed with dress changes and other scenes. So my congratulations to whoever put this on and I hope the effort was worth it.

When the directors are motivated there does exist a healthy competition amongst them to see just who can put on the best and, naturlich, reap the biggest financial rewards. So he/she who followed would certainly be motivated to try and out-do that. Now this show certainly did remind me of one by Auntie Julia. But if, what I heard later is true, then it was not her. So her influence does seem to rub off on others. Visually, it did not have the same effect and I was now witnessing this live. The models did everything asked of them. Maybe more than they would expect as Tessa seemed really bemused to be attired in what resembled a Beduin tent. The light was still rather dark but not so bad as the over-indulgence a day or so before.

And then it was Miss Mirror Ball, Mirror Ball, who is the fairest of them all's,or Vicky to keep this short and simple, turn to impress the judges. Her grand idea was more basic. Conjure up a conflict between the two 'best friends'. Unfortunately for the regie these two can not act if their life depended on it and were clearly laughing through their lines.

So there does appear to be a concerted effort to drum up the business. That can not be bad as long as this momentum can be maintained and not be another false dawn.
