If I understood the posts on the Italian forum right, then there is no way to tune the skybox to the new frequency.
etv is informed about that problem and I hope they contact sky on this topic. |

My Humax has a fix video-info, I think it's no average measuring:
ETV Astra: 720x576 with 250 kbps ETV Hotbird old: 720x576 with 284 kbps ETV Hotbird new: 544x576 with 1875 kbps for comparative: Pro7: 720x576 with 1875 kbps The problem is that the picture quality isn't better. Maybe they should increase their camera-equipment. |

Hi all!
So, it seems they are getting closer and closer to making a permanent move to the new frequency...BUT...what about the promised higher quality!? My latest readings of the average bitrate flow (video) are as follows; old freq(2370 kbit/s), new freq(2600 kbit/s). So yes, the bitrate is a little higher...but where is the promised 'up to' 4000 kbit/s? The worst thing is the video resolution which has been lowered to 544x576i...they cannot be serious? I´m beginning to wonder! I actually think that the average picture quality is slightly worse on the new frequency. What do you guys think? |

They´ve raised the bitrate...slightly.
My software now calculates an avarage video bitrate of 2630 kbit/s (to the old 2317 kbit/s). Still a bit to go...if they intend to keep their promise of up to 4 mbit/s. Still, they do already deliver a really decent picture...for a liveshow channel. Audio is 'up' to an average of 105 kbit/s...compare that to the common minimum bitrate for mp3 which is often held to 192 kbit/s. ...oh, they seem to have lowered the resolution to 544x576i... Who knows what they are up to, must be testing testing testing...we´ll see were they end up. NOTE: once again, please note that that calculated bitrate flow will differ sligthy depending on which equipment/software is used. |

@satya....some DVB receivers have this funtion in their software or as an available plugin. The same goes for DVB PCI card for PCs, there are softwares that offer calculation of bitrate flow.
Most DVB receivers do not have bitrate calculation...but just about all will show you the resolution of the video. |
