Men' s Singles : Carlos Alcaraz (3) won his ATP tournament in career (first Grand Slam and) defeating
Casper Ruud (5) 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (1), 6-3 after 3h 20'

The first set, in which Alcaraz dominated far and wide an opponent he had easily beaten in both precedents, the last of which dates back to the final of the Miami tournament this year, commanding the exchanges and always being a fraction of second in advance on the ball compared to Ruud, was decided by a single break, scored by the Spaniard in the third game and maintained, after having canceled a break-point in the fourth game, without further problems until the final 6-4 after 49'; completely different music in the second set, in which the balance was broken, in the sixth game, by Ruud, who, after having saved a break-point in the previous game, broke Alcaraz for the first time, then going to 5-2 after having canceled a break-point and closing the set 6-2 with another break after 40', thus drawing the match; the third set saw the Spaniard start better, immediately breaking the Norwegian and missing a 3-0 opportunity, but Ruud did not give up, impacting on 2-2, with the match that continued without breaks until 6-5 for Ruud, when Alcaraz, after saving two set-points, managed to go to the tie-break, in which the Norwegian won the first point, but then the Spaniard scored 7 consecutive points, closing the set 7-1 after 1h 11'; the fourth set remained in balance until 3-2 for Alcaraz, when the Spaniard, also thanks to a splendid lob on 30-30, scored the break that led him to 4-2 and which proved decisive, because the Spaniard did not tremble and, on 5-3, he closed the match at the second match-point, winning, at 19 years, 4 months and 6 days, his first Major at the US Open (in this case he is not the youngest because Pete Sampras won in 1990, when he was 19 years and 28 days old) and becoming the world's youngest N°1 ever, since the computerized ranking exists (1973), canceling the record of the Australian Lleyton Hewitt, who reached the same milestone on November 19th 2001, when he was 20 years old, 8 months and 23 days old, while Ruud, who lost his second Grand Slam Final of this season, can still fully enjoy his second position in the ATP ranking.

Women' s Singles : Iga Swiatek (1) won her 10th WTA tournament in career (seventh in this season, third Grand Slam, second in this season after the Roland Garros, and first US Open), defeating Ons Jabeur (5) 6-2, 7-6 (5)

Swiatek started the Final with great intensity, in the strokes and especially in the feet, very fast in arriving on the ball, so as to bring her into an ideal position to produce a powerful and precise forcing, while the Jabeur was visibly contracted, so the N° 1 in the world immediately went 3-0, but Jabeur immediately reacted, breaking her opponent back in the fifth game, even if it was only a flash in the pan and the match didn't turn, with the Polish player breaking again, twice in a row, and closing the set 6-2 after 29'; the start of the second set faithfully followed that of the first, with Swiatek ahead 3-0, Jabeur who, after saving 3 break-points, broke back in the fifth game and the world's N° 1 who immediately broke the Tunisian again, going 4-2, but this time Jabeur didn' t give up, risking everything and, at the third chance, breaking back Swiatek, then impacting the score on 4 all and managing to have 3 break points (2 of which consecutive) in the ninth game, which would lead her to serve for the set, all canceled by the Polish player, but Jabeur didn' t break down and impacted on 5-5, also managing to save a match-point on 5-6, so the set was decided by the tie-break, in which, after 4 mini-breaks in the first 4 points, Swiatek went 4-2, suffering however the overwhelming return of the Tunisian, who, with 3 points in a row, went 5-4 , with two serves to close the set, but once again, Jabeur's arm trembled and Swiatek, with two consecutive points, gained a match-point on her serve, exploited thanks to a forehand error by the Tunisian for the 7-5 that closed the Final. Swiatek, who became the ninth player in the Open era to win three Grand Slams before turning 22, in the company of legends such as Serena Williams, Monica Seles, Steffi Graf and Chris Evert, was the first Polish player to triumph in New York, while the Tunisian lost her second Slam final in a row after Wimbledon. Tomorrow Iga and Ons will be first and second, both in the WTA ranking and in the WTA Race.
