2022 WTA FINALS - DAY 8 (LAST) :
"Dickies Arena", Forth Worth (United States) :

Singles - Final : Caroline Garcia (6) won her 12th WTA tournament in career (first WTA Finals and on hard indoor), defeating
Aryna Sabalenka (7) 7-6 (4), 6-4 after 1h 41' Thumb up

First set was in great balance : no break-points for both players, so it was decided by the tie-break, in which Sabalenka immediately went 2-0, but then Garcia scored 6 consecutive points, earning 4 set-points in a row : the Belarusian saved the first 2, but then, with a double fault, lost the set 7-4 after 56 '; the second set opened with the first (and only) break of the match, scored, at the first opportunity, by the Frenchwoman, who then defended it without giving opportunities to recover it to her opponent, until 5-4, when the Belarusian cancelled the first match-point, but not the second, and Garcia triumphed, becoming the eighth different player in the last eight seasons to win the WTA Finals and crowning an extraordinary year for her, started at N° 75 WTA and closed with a title on all surfaces (grass, clay, hard and hard indoor) and 8 successes on the "Top 10", which bring it to world's N° 4 (her best ranking), while Sabalenka, who in any case will be N° 5 in the WTA ranking, once again denounced those nervous and technical limits that blocked her in all the great matches of her career, always denying her the decisive step in quality.
