Charles Pic : Marussia F1 Team : 1:18.127 + 4.101 24. Narain Karthikeyan : HRT F1 Team : 1:18.139 + 4.113 Comment of the 2nd session : Lewis Hamilton continued his strong start to his McLaren swansong weekend as he went fastest again in second practice for the Brazilian Grand Prix. Formula 1 championship leader Sebastian Vettel was second, three places ahead of title rival Fernando Alonso. Both Vettel and Alonso had spells on top during the afternoon, but Hamilton moved comfortably clear in the closing stages when the field switched to the softer tyres. It was Alonso's Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa who held sway at first, before being usurped by Vettel's Red Bull after 12 minutes. Vettel's 1m15.226s was good enough to keep him on top for nearly half an hour, although Jenson Button came within a few fractions of displacing him. It was Alonso who eventually did push the champion off the top, putting in a 1m15.150s. That was the last benchmark time of the hard-tyre period, with Romain Grosjean becoming the first frontrunner to try the medium compound shortly afterwards. The Lotus did not need long to beat Alonso. There followed a frantic spell in which Nico Rosberg, Massa and then Hamilton held the top spot within two minutes. But once back in front, Hamilton would stay there. His 1m14.026s lap was half a second clear of the field at that stage, and the closest anyone could get was Vettel's 1m14.300s. Mark Webber completed the top three in the second Red Bull, ahead of the Ferraris of Massa and Alonso. Mercedes was near the leaders throughout the session, with Michael Schumacher and Rosberg ending up sixth and seventh, followed by Button and Grosjean. Paul di Resta pipped Force India team-mate Nico Hulkenberg by just 0.002s to grab the final top-10 spot. At the back, HRT again completed significantly less mileage than its rivals, while Charles Pic had to park his Marussia with what the team believes was an alternator problem. Tomorrow ( saturday ) at 14.00u CET will be the 3rd and final practice session of this season , followed at 17.00u CETthe final qualification of the season 2012 !!!!! Kind Regards Shaky-Schumi |

Charles Pic : Marussia F1 Team : 1:17.234 + 3.103 23. Pedro de la Rosa : HRT F1 Team : 1:17.678 + 3.547 24. Narain Karthikeyan : HRT F1 Team : 1:17.895 + 3.764 Comment of this session : Lewis Hamilton picked up from where he left off in the USA by posting the quickest time in opening practice for the Brazilian Grand Prix. Hamilton, who is competing in his last race for McLaren before moving to Mercedes, posted the quickest time of the session early on, taking advantage of a set of 2013-spec Pirelli tyres, which all teams worked with in the opening 90 minutes of running.Hamilton's time of 1m14.131s was only 0.009s better than that of Sebastian Vettel, the Red Bull driver's mark set on this year's rubber. Vettel's team-mate Mark Webber was third, also less than a tenth off a second behind Hamilton. McLaren's Jenson Button was fourth, while championship contender Fernando Alonso finished in fifth position in the Ferrari, albeit over two tenths of a second off the best time. Felipe Massa was sixth in the second Italian car, with Romain Grosjean, Paul di Resta, Pastor Maldonado and Nico Hulkenberg completing the top 10. Williams tester Valtteri Bottas was the first man to post a time in the opening minutes of the session, the Finn completing a lap of 1m21.218s that kept him on top until Sergio Perez went over 4s quicker 12 minutes into the session. The Mexican then found another 2s to post a 1m15.869s. Fifteen minutes in, Hamilton jumped to the top of the timesheets with a 1m14.374s lap. Moments later, the 2008 world champion improved to a 1m14.131s that put him nearly 2s clear of the rest of the field and proved enough to keep him on top until the session's end. Vettel moved up to second place 27 minutes in, posting a time just 0.3s off Hamilton's best while also on the prototype Pirelli rubber. The double world champion improved his time later in the session when running with this year's hard tyres, but he still fell short of Hamilton's time. With the teams not using the medium tyres at their disposal, the top times stayed mostly unchanged during the remainder of the session. Abu Dhabi Grand Prix winner Kimi Raikkonen missed most of the running as his mechanics worked on his Lotus, the Finn only posting a time with 10 minutes to go after being hit with apparent engine problems. The struggling HRT team also restricted its running, with Pedro da la Rosa and Narain Karthikeyan each managing just an installation lap early on and not returning to the track until there were 35 minutes left on the clock. The 90 minutes of action were mostly incident-free except for a spin by Massa with nine minutes to go, the Brazilian losing control of his car at Pinheirinho. Next practice session is at 17.00u CET Kind Regards Shaky-Schumi |

Brazilian Grand Prix – Interlagos circuit – Autodromo José Carlos Pace
the last race of the season will be decisive for the championship. Vettel has more chance of winning and in this period, the Red Bull is faster than the Ferrari. After the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, in the last six races, Sebastian Vettel has gained 133 points(4 wins, once 2° and once 3°), and Fernando Alonso 81 points (his last win was in July). But Alonso can keep on hoping; in a single race everything can happen, sometimes the Red Bull has had reliability problems, or Sunday it could rain at Interlagos. Check the weather forecasts; maybe someone is doing the rain dance. Jokes aside, Alonso and Vettel are two great champions and both would deserve the title. The final challenge will take place at Interlagos(San Paolo) that will host for the thirtieth time the Grand Prix of Brazil. while in the eighties, 10 editions, were held at Jacarepagua (Rio de Janeiro). The track is located at 750 m above sea level therefore the reduced air density will be important for aerodynamics and engine performance. Interlagos is not the best circuit of the season, but for sure a really good track, very interesting. At the end of the start-finish straight there is the famous "S do Senna" two difficult downhill curves. This is a good place for the overtakings. In the second sector of the track, after another straight(Reta Oposta) you find some medium speed curves(as Ferradura) and low speed curves(as Pinherinho) while in the final sector there are three left corners: Junção, Subida do Boxes(all uphill,) followed by Arquibancada, a long and very fast curve. I think it will be in the second sector, where Ferrari will find difficulty to keep pace with Red Bull. As Abu Dhabi and Austin also Interlagos is a circuit that runs in an anti-clockwise direction. The track surface is full of bumps with many ups and downs. The tyre compounds will be silver hard(prime) and white medium(option) as at Sepang, Spa, Monza and Austin. For last year’s race at Interlagos, instead Pirelli chose its soft and medium tyres. Just one DRS zone, after turn three. Also in 2007 and 2008 the race at Interlagos was the last one of the season and was decisive for the title. Podium 2010: Vettel – Webber – Alonso. Fastest lap on race: Hamilton – pole position : Hulkenberg 1'14''470 (damp track) Podium 2011: Webber – Vettel – Button. Fastest lap on race: Webber – pole position: Vettel 1'11''918 (but with soft tyres) in the last three years has always won a Red Bull and in the last two years even always first and second place. victories for current pilots: Schumacher(4) Massa and Webber(2) Raikkonen and Vettel (1) Zero win for Alonso Hamilton and Button Pole position: Massa(3) Vettel, Hulkenberg Alonso and Schumacher(1) Zero pole position for Hamilton Button and Webber. still only one thing: this is the last race of Michael Schumacher. Chapeau. |

hopes will never die....
![]() Alonso won the world title if he comes first in Brazil and Vettel finishes fifth or more back. With the second place Ferrari of things already complicated: Vettel should get to eighth or worse, which this year, retreats aside, it's only happened in Sepang. If you mounted the third step of the podium, Alonso will have to hope that Vettel does not go beyond the tenth. In case of a tie, that is, with Alonso and Vettel finishes first in the fourth position, the two chiuderebbo at an altitude of 285 but Vettel would win anyway by virtue of highest number of Grand Prix wins during the season. |

Jean-Eric Vergne : Toro Rosso : Fastest Lap : Sebastian Vettel - 1:39.347 Pitstop Jean-Eric Vergne : DNF D.S.L : 13 Comment of the race : Lewis Hamilton beat Sebastian Vettel to victory in an absorbing United States Grand Prix, as Fernando Alonso's third place kept the Formula 1 championship battle alive. Despite his defeat at Austin, Vettel remains title favourite, as he takes a 13-point lead over Alonso into next weekend's finale at Interlagos. The constructors' championship is settled though, with Red Bull beating it beyond its rivals' reach. Hamilton's relentless pursuit of Vettel kept tension building throughout the race. The McLaren lost second to Vettel's Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber at the start, but soon re-passed the Australian. Webber retired with alternator failure soon afterwards, no doubt prompting nerves in the Red Bull garage. Vettel's car was still running smoothly, but it did not have the pace to escape from Hamilton. The champion pulled out a little breathing space just before the first pitstops, only for Hamilton to come back with a vengeance once they were both on fresh hard tyres. Hamilton spent most of the middle of the race tantalisingly close to Vettel, but was frustrated time and time again by the Red Bull's superior traction. The McLaren would close in through the fast first sector, then struggle to get near enough on the DRS zone straight. Finally on lap 42 out of 57 Hamilton managed to pull the move off. Vettel moved to the inside, but the McLaren's straightline pace advantage was so great that McLaren was comfortable ahead before the next corner - prompting angry radio messages from Vettel regarding the DRS effect. The race was far from over, as Hamilton never quite escaped from Vettel. The Red Bull did not manage to get within striking range and Hamilton was able to win in America for the second time in his career, crossing the line a mere six tenths ahead of Vettel, who at least wrapped up another teams' title for his employer. Alonso's progress to third was mostly achieved via a superb start from his controversial grid slot. He then swept around the outside at the first corner to secure fourth, which became third after Webber's exit. His Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa recovered from his generously-accepted 11th place on the grid to fourth, showing great race pace throughout. Massa came under slight threat from Jenson Button late on. The McLaren had fallen right back to 16th on lap one, before flying through the field as its tyres came to life. Button ran to lap 35 before pitting, and then battled past the two Lotuses to secure fifth. Kimi Raikkonen looked like he might challenge Alonso at one stage. Both lost a few seconds at their pitstops, with Raikkonen falling back into traffic and then being overtaken by Massa and Button in the second stint. Raikkonen finished just ahead of team-mate Romain Grosjean, who recovered well from spinning on lap five then requiring a lap-nine pitstop. He fell right back to 22nd, but flew thereafter. Nico Hulkenberg claimed eighth for Force India by fending off battling Williams duo Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna. The pair banged wheels at Turn 1 in the closing laps as Maldonado passed his team-mate. Daniel Ricciardo starred in the first stint, rising from 18th on the grid to fifth by staying out until lap 30. But that tactic did not pay off for Toro Rosso as Ricciardo was only 12th in the end. Mercedes had a terrible race. Michael Schumacher was overtaken by rival after rival in the opening stint, falling from fifth on the grid to 14th before his first pitstop. He would require more tyres later on too, leaving him 16th, three places behind team-mate Nico Rosberg. So the desider for the Champion will be next week in Brasil ![]() ![]() Kind Regards Shaky-Schumi |

Ferrari broke the seal on Massa's gearbox. the Brazilian will be penalized five places on the grid by the FIA but in this way Alonso will be promoted to 7th place and above all on the clean side of the grid. A tactical choice to try to keep, Alonso fighting for the world championship. a last desperate attempt.
the pilots who will start from dirty side of the track will be damaged today. because there is no grip on the left side(second, fourth, sixth and so on) and it will be like starting on the wet; the asphalt is totally new and slippery with no grip. Probably all pilots will try to move to the clean side where there is more grip. Except from Vettel, probably at the first corner there will be a great chaos. |
