Sorry, I know not the right place but response to previous post: I picked up the 'Vista antispyware 2011' virus on Sunday which completely took over my pc - whatever I did it gave security alerts & wouldn't let me continue - must have picked it up either downloading an Anna Lovato hc vid (from megaupload) or a videobam link for sj's mic-on (both from other forums I think) or from the daily telegraph.
Checked out Microsoft site & they had a link to a blog (sorry can't remember which) but had to disable various things then open a program to kick the virus off, then run Malwarebytes (had to download on another pc and load using memory stick) - it removed the virus and reset all file associations and all worked ok - was back up and running within a few hours... may still have an exe embedded but have run various scans since and nothing showing up and no other problems / pc working ok...fingers crossed. |

ah i never use ie i always use firefox.try trend micro house call online usually finds most things

MacAfee, which did not pick it up, although it did in a scan but couldn't delete it. Free version of SuperAntiSpyware picked it up on a scan, said it had deleted but hadn't. The quick scan on free version of Malwarebytes didn't pick it up, the full scan did and appears to have deleted it. Unfortunately the trojan is XP Virus scan 2011 which disables exe. files, so it is difficult to get into internet exlorer, windows security centre or any anti virus programmes, once you've got it. Still haven't got exe. files re-associated.

what av do you use ive rescanned with kaspersky on my pc plus online ones and nothing shows up for me
