The precise timing is determined by the exact times of transit of the sun over the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn for the solstices and the times of the sun's transit over the equator for the equinoxes. Some people prefer to use meteorological reckoning, based on expected normal weather patterns. In either case, out of season weather is just one of many phenomena to remind us what a wonderful planet we live on I would never tell someone they were ignorant, just imply it with a grammatically ambiguous statement |
