You cannot make up the rules for one model (Sc......t) and deny them for another. Lack of consistency is lack of RESPECT, plain and simple.

And btw the name 'Madlen' although un-common DOES exist. So much for the lesson.

(But I expect this post to be deleted/edited as well)

don't worry jack_hacket. no-one will delete your post. you're lucky, because old_grizzly was fired as moderator.

Of course in Venice land "mona" means something else.

I don't think I ever heard her or another girl call her 'Monna' as in 'Donna',it was always 'Mona' as in 'Mona Lisa'.Mind you,99% of the time I do have the sound turned down when watching ETV! Big Grin It's not a language issue,I have the sound muted on the UK channels too! Tongue

Etymology does imply that names and the spelling are changing permanently because of different reasons like watcher wrote before. That's developement.
I see nothing OT.
Again sorry for using a vulg. word.

It seems that a thread that started as an information is going slightly off topic into a discussion.

There is a chronological factor to this.
Historically names were chosen and clearly defined ...
into more recent times ... name choosers (usually parents) have wanted to show their individuality. This has taken two main methods: Inventing a name or a unique spelling of an existing name.
So, we now have names with no history, names of different ethnic backgrounds, names with unique spelling and classical names.
One final thing. Many 'name chooser' will take it as a personal insult if you tell them that the name they have chosen is spelled incorrectly.
Etymology doesn't care about wise-asses.
Sorry for beeing vulg.

Re: A rose by any other name - models and their spelling

No arguments please.
After 200 years of colonialism some people are used to the indigenous lack of spelling and teaching them the right spelling is part of civilising them ...

Re: A rose by any other name - models and their spelling

This has always been a little confusing to me,but then I am English and would like all foreign names to be 'Anglo-cised' ! Big Grin Tongue I am not renaming my 78 hour long video files of 'Monna01' to 'Mona01' etc. though, even though I know she pronounced it as in 'Mona Lisa' ! Smile

Sandra has just pronounced "Loretta" with double "t".

Models have nicknames. It is useless to have a wrong spelling.
