Time to reflect

In the best ETV traditions, this is written 100% live. So you get it warts and all. To paraphrase a well known saying, a week is a long time in ETV land and it has been a very long week. It started with the usual missive from your good friend Stetler and then the un-thinkable happened. Seems I had upset a few people for their lack of ideas and I was challenged to come up with an idea of my own. One they could produce on the tv. The gauntlet was thrown down and was picked up. Actually, I did not expect to hear any more of this but I did have a reply and the sign are encouraging. I do not know as yet whther the 'idea' will actually be produced. But on this subject I will, for now, say no more and also give the channel sufficient time to reflect upon it. And as Sunday evening had started quite well, it got a whole lot better with the new set and the premiere show. A show that, for me, returned the erotic into the name where this tv comes from. So 10 out of 10 from this heckler for this idea. Of course we have come to expect that lightning does not strike twice and the show for the following night did not keep up the momentum. More so, furnishings were introduced which had no place in a garden/jungle. So 0 out of 10 from this heckler for this idea. By the second show of Tuesday, it was all over. We were back in the sitting room/bed set. Yet, the last show which most never saw was again very good. Used the settings well - 'Paradise', The Garden of Eden. So 10 out of 10 from this heckler for this idea as well. But I simply cannot believe, or indeed accept, that they built this set just to run 5 shows and two solo nighters. I wonder whether there is a technical problem there which prevents it's use which this heckler hopes can be fixed and more shows of the quality of the two that I mention are forthcoming from that set. But since those two shows there have not been any fresh ideas. The only 'production' was again a morning show. But that was a repeat of an idea done a few times before 'Queen for a day'. Only 6 out of 10 from this heckler for this idea. This week saw another innovation which has as yet gone un-mentioned in these pages. But it has not gone un-noticed. Gone are the short films between the shows (although E2 are still running them). Now the camera goes into soft-focus and we see the live preparation for the next show - note to all you ladies out there, Hans will make you a good husband as he does a good turn in re-making the bed -)) But there are problems with this 'idea'. Firstly, and this was noticed a few times, the girls are unsure when a show has ended. I saw the end of a morning shift. The girls (probably saw the studio clock) and got up to leave. They were told to sit down again and again and again. So once more this transition from each show requires a little polish. And there's more. There is a certain vision-mixer who's only 'idea' is to start a show by pointing a camera at a spot-light and fading that over the girls one by one. It should work but it does not. Virtually every show that is done this way end up with girls introducing the show not with their faces on screen but just talking to a spot-light. And with the live transition the mixer is now invariably late with his idea so you get a full shot of the girls before a full spot-light. 0 out of 10 from this heckler for this non-idea. And there's more. During the previous idea of 24 hour non-stop tv, I reminded the channel of their, I believe legal, obligation to commence the night show with that on-screen 'warning' caption. You know the one I mean. It's gone again so please do not deny me that I told you so. You said last week that you do not always read these. But I hope that you can take a few minutes out for this one and just reflect. Reflect that I do not set out to upset you. Take the criticsm in the manner it is intended and build upon it. As I said to you, then we can all profit from the ideas. |

Not bad. Although it’s hard to judge a show from just a few minutes, it is evident, that a good erotic show doesn’t need close-ups. |

I've put up a few glimpses of 'Paradise' in the videos section. And to paraphrase my own words, an enigma indeed. |
