Shooting from the hip

Oh what a week that was. And with most of the action happening off the screen. The new sheriff's deputy comes into town with all guns blazing and soon shuts himself into his own jailhouse when he finds that the 'good citizens of the Last Chance Saloon' can actually shoot quicker than him. But I repeat my comments in the other topic with a warm welcome to the new owner of this site Mr.Pink. Of course if he is looking for some sponsors he might not need to look any ferher than this "Always use Kleenex man-size tissues. It's time to let it out" (and I kid you not, that last sentence is from their own website) But not much happened on-screen. ETV found a new sponsor in 'good mood cookies' or it could well have been the effect of that funny shaped smoking aparatus that caused the behavour of seemingly reserved gals. And the good mood continued into the following day shows. So who knows what could happen. It's been a long time coming but it's back. I refer to none other than the ad-break. Ok, this one is not very long. So maybe they have learnt something from the past. But as a non German speaker watching on a channel (HB) that I am sure has a majority of non German speaking viewers/callers I fail to see why that ad is run there. A look at Astra confirmed that the ad is being shown as on-screen graphics - a more transparent way to present commercials - and less full screen breaks (no more than once per hour against practically every 30 minutes on HB). And since there is only a spoken commentary with the ad and no on-screen numbers it makes even less sense to show it at all. I try not to openly criticise models by name. I know they do a difficult job and there are many pressures put upon them. But I must comment this once on a percieved arrogance. A while back I was at a dinner party and I openly discussed with my companions who had grown in respect in my eyes from being a 'blonde bimbo with big bazookas' to quite a clever chick with the mic - I did not use those exact words but they are here for you to guess of whom I talk about. On the friday night show came the VIP for her do do a 'full strip'. Now watching on HB I do not know whether that was the 10 euro VIP or the 50/50 version. But this model came to the mic and blazenly stated that the message sounded more like a demand - 'not good enough' were her more precise words. It was if she expected the caller to roll over like a faithful puppy dog and pay more money in the hope of getting his request fulfilled. On this occasion, the sender was a little smarter or offended and did not fall for it. And this was more damning as just before this incident another sender/another model combination was fully catered for. And this incident reminded me of a much earlier show when a model also came to the mic and told the viewers that they were stoopid. "We cannot fulfill all your wishes and anyway most of them are stoopid". That was followed by a round of appluase from the rest of the girls. The difference here was that it was done with affection and humour. No one really could be offended by that and no one was harmed. But the prospective sender looking in will surely ask the question why should he bother if he to be met with such arrogance. And it was equally noticable that after this incident there was only one, again fullfilled, request. So in my eyes the channel lost this caller and probably many others. Not a great way to carry on. Made one discovery this week. The telephone number for the UK actually works again. I will not bore you with the name of the lucky victim but after a long tirade from my now unemployed cousin I needed to hear a pleasant voice. And as for him I believe he will now retire to his favourite hobby CB radio - that's Citizen's Banned in his terminology. Now where did I put those Kleenex ? |
