Financiers: So, now you’ve had a few months to settle in as new managers, how’s it all going? ETV Managers: Oh, it’s going really very well, thanks. F: That’s great news, because when we last spoke to the previous managers in October, they were worried about the loss of a lot of the best girls and they’d just decided to close down the soft show concept. ETV: Yes, we think they were wrong there, and we’re recreating the soft show which is basically a phone in. F: The previous managers were trying very hard to keep their star hotter models. Will you be doing the same? ETV: No. They are not part of our future concept and we’re not interested in the erotic idea. We have already managed to lose quite a lot of them and the rest will follow when their contracts expire, or earlier if possible. ETV: As I said, several were out of contract, and we found that reducing the pay of the girls gave them an incentive to leave F: So how are you replacing them? ETV: We’re hiring in a lot of new girls from two outside agencies so we just pay the agency rather than the girls directly. They are on their payroll and are given other jobs to fill up their working days. F: How many of them are you proposing to hire? ETV: We’ve hired 20 in the first phase. You may have seen that seven of them have already appeared this week and the other 12 or 13 will be introduced over the next few weeks as the spaces become available. I think another is due to start on Thursday morning. She's called Kristina and she's a professional dancer too. F: What sort of girls are you looking for? ETV: They have to have a pretty face, a good telephone manner, decent English or German and a special talent. We’re going to use the shows as a showcase for their talents. That’s part of the deal with the agents. So far we have a singer, a dancer, a pianist and we’ll have to see what else comes along. These are girls who are trying to break into the mainstream entertainment industry. F: Are you “losing” all the older models? ETV: Not necessarily. It depends what they can offer us in the way of special talents. There are some who sing and dance and are too good at bringing in callers for us to want to get rid of them. So we’ll be offering them new, lower-paid contracts as soft models only. F: So no more hot models then? ETV: No. All the girls we’ve hired in since we took over have been soft models. One of those recently decided to take off her clothes, so she had to go at rather short notice. F: How do you justify this change of direction? ETV: It’s to do with the market. Most of our income comes from syndicating to other broadcasters, most of whom don’t want anything more than a flash of leg occasionally. I’m referring particularly to the Eastern market. Otherwise people pay to advertise their telephone sex lines (which can be cut out when we sell on to other broadcasters), and thirdly there are enough sad, lonely, desperate people out there who just want to talk to a pretty face and have their names trampled on. We get quite a lot of money from their phone calls and SMSs. F: What about the name of the channel – eurotic tv? ETV: Well, we’ve kept that for the time being until the changes are fully implemented. Then we’ll change it to a name which is more suited to the telephone chat/talent show concept. F: What do you say to your viewers who will be disappointed? I understand that there are at least three forums which are dedicated to eurotic tv. ETV: Frankly, tough. It’s all about money, and there are enough “erotic” shows on other channels to satisfy their needs. F: Thank you for your time and your reassurance that ETV is in safe hands. ETV: It’s a pleasure. |
