I don't now about you guys .... but I expected more action ,more excitement .....oké it's just the 1st race .... but with the new rules I thought it would be complete different ,but no it wasn't . The 1st laps I thought oké ...this is going to look great .... but already I saw some sings from last year ....namely a boring race ...because of like I say in dutch/flamish ..." traintje rijden " train riding after a couple of laps... not much overtaking , not coming closer to the car infront of you ,etc . Oké ...like I say it's just the 1st race of the season ! and what about Ferrari ? ....again they trailing behind the rest ....Alonso fighting again against Hulkenberg in a Force India ? Raikkonen ... making too much mistakes with braking ...problem's with his DRS ...pffff . But I saw a nice podium with Rosberg as Winner and Ricciardo at 2nd place in is 1st race at the Red Bull Team ..and a big applaud for Magnussen in his first seaon at F1 on 3rd place ... and Bottas in the Williams at 6th place ... I say welldone to these guys ( I wonder what Felipe Massa would have done if he was still in the race ). Next stop in 14th days at Malaysia ...hopefully I/we can see a better/exciting race !

Felipe Massa : Did Not Finish Mercedes wins but Red Bull crisis ending : Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel, and Melbourne pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton, failed to finish Sunday's 2014 season opener. Both men struck trouble right from the start at Albert Park, after a winter of technical struggles up and down the paddock. "It's a long season," said German Vettel, whose run of victories dating all the way back to last August finally ended, "and there are positives." The bright side is that Red Bull's 'crisis' appears to be rapidly ending, as teammate Daniel Ricciardo delighted the partisan crowd by finishing second. Vettel's problems started before qualifying, when his car's fuel flow sensor reportedly alerted the FIA that the Renault engine was using more than the allowed 100kg of fuel per hour. "The (Renault) software was changed so this no longer occurred," reported Germany's Auto Motor und Sport. "Ricciardo's worked, Vettel's did not." Ricciardo was delighted. "Just two or three weeks ago, I would have bet everything I've got that we would not be standing up here," he told 1980 world champion Alan Jones on the podium. "Full credit to the team for an unbelievable turnaround," the Australian added. Hamilton, meanwhile, was as glum as Vettel as his otherwise dominant Mercedes struck trouble with an engine misfire. But "the important thing," the Briton said behind the pit buildings, "is that the car is quick. "It's early stages and there's a long way to go. There's massive positives to take from the weekend." Indeed, Hamilton was cheered by the performance of his winning teammate Nico Rosberg, who won easily by almost half a minute. "What a car you have given me," German Rosberg told his Mercedes crew on the radio, "what a car." More surprising than Rosberg's victory was the fact that doomsday predictions of cars failing left, right and centre did not materialise, as 14 cars saw the chequered flag. "The teams are learning so much so quickly," said former F1 driver David Coulthard on British television BBC. "The ones who have managed the new technology best were Mercedes," he added. Rosberg, however, warned that the arms race is definitely now on. "We can improve and we must improve," he said. "The other teams will not go to sleep so we have to make sure we are ready for Malaysia." Kind Regards Shaky - Schumi |

Pastor Maldonado - Lotus - no time Penalty's for Valtteri Bottas & Esteban Gutierrez : 5 places grid penalty Qualifying Time : 1:44.231 Pole : Lewis Hamilton Team Bat. : Fernando Alonso > Kimi Raikkonen Grid Pos. Felipe Massa : 9th place Hamilton takes pole as Ricciardo stars in wet thriller : The 2014 Formula 1 World Championship got off to a thrilling but wet start with Lewis Hamilton stealing pole position for the Australian Grand Prix, from Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, on his final flying lap of qualifying with Red Bull new boy Daniel Ricciardo stealing the show with he second best time, in a session which saw some big reputations take a mighty knock and the young guns making their mark early. As if Formula 1′s brand new turbo era did not have enough challenges, mother nature decided to add some spice to proceedings as rain, which loomed since daybreak over Albert Park, finally bucketed down just before Q2 which set the stage for a dramatic half hour of action. As expected Hamilton and Rosberg had the firepower to feature constantly at the sharp end of proceedings, while Ricciardo surprised all with a solid qualifying where he too was a factor throughout the session and very nearly nicked pole in his debut for Red Bull, but nevertheless comprehensively outshone his teammate Sebastian Vettel. In fact the world champion was out of sorts all Saturday, after a reasonably positive start on Friday, and as a result he failed to make it beyond Q2 as his time was only good enough for 13th. But he was not the only one to suffer in Q2 as Kimi Raikkonen, who was struggling relative to Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso, slithered into the wall after getting on the power too early. His session ended on the spot with him 12th on the timing screens. Jenson Button looked good in Q1, but could not carry the pace over to Q2 as 11th was the best he could do, while his rookie teammate Kevin Magnussen gave a superb account of himself to eventually set the fourth best time, and will start fourth in his grand prix debut. But in the end the day belonged to Hamilton who has looked feisty and up for it since he set foot in Melbourne, with Rosberg fastest as Hamilton started his final lap the pressure was on and the 2008 World Champion rose to the occasion to post the fastest lap with Pirelli wet tyres bolted on. He said afterwards, ”It was difficult to know where the turnover point was for intermediates and full wets. Do you take a risk or not? We decided not to. Ricciardo did a good job on the intermediate tyres, so it was a close call between the two tyres. The conditions made it extremely difficult. I hope the weather is better tomorrow for the fans but also for us.” “The new cars are harder to drive in the wet and it’s the first time for me driving in these conditions – as I’m sure it is for a lot of other drivers. But to be up here is a great showing for the team. It’s great for Ricciardo, too, in his first grand prix for Red Bull.” Ricciardo did his bit for ticket sales in the build-up to his home race, then set about delivering a star performance in front of the partisan home crowd who cheered and appreciated his every move on track. With the conditions on the cusp of full wets and intermediate tyres, the team oped for the latter and Ricciardo set about attacking the pace setting Mercedes duo, splitting them as he ensured a front row start in his debut for the world champion team. A beaming Ricciardo said, “I’m so happy for me to be up here and for the team to have a car on the front row. It wasn’t looking like this a few weeks ago so I’m pretty pleased right now. ”It was exciting, definitely the weather added to the mix. The whole session went well. Not everyone was out with the options in the beginning, Q1 looked like it was going OK for us. “When the rain fell, it was the first time we have all driven on the limit in wet conditions. It was tricky but at the same time a lot of fun, It’s nice to be always up there, setting times which put us in the battle for pole. It’s nice for me and also for the team.” Rosberg came close, but not close enough, as he will start the race from behind his teammate on the grid but showed throughout the weekend thus far that he too has race winning potential, helped like Hamilton by a very solid piece of kit in the W05 which looks to be the class of the bunch as the season kicks off. The German summed up his afternoon, ”I’m not sure what the others were doing – we didn’t get everything right, but we didn’t do much wrong, but all in all it was a good qualifying session. I’m pleased with third – we could do better, but at least with that a good race is possible. “It will be a different story tomorrow depending on the weather. There is a small chance of rain but it’s more likely to be dry and totally different. Melbourne is the most difficult track for fuel consumption so it will be difficult to save fuel during the race. It will be a big challenge.” As mentioned Magnussen delivered for those who had faith in promoting him to the McLaren race seat, and his heroics were well and truly appreciated by team the team’s boss Ron Dennis who watched with relish from the pit garage. Hew will start from the second row. For Ferrari it was an afternoon of mixed fortunes and perhaps disappointment that the F14T is not up there with the pace setters at this early stage. Alonso started Q3 with intermediates, which was too early for them to be effective and then came in for full wets, going out again but perhaps at a time when the inters would have been more effective, as in the case of Ricciardo. Nevertheless the Spaniard will start from fifth on the grid. For a team which were suffering the woes of the Renault clan, Toro Rosso delivered a class performance in qualifying with Jean-Eric Vergne showing his prowess in adverse conditions by setting the sixth fastest time, and teenage rookie Daniil Kvyat giving an impressive showing in his qualifying debut. He will start from eighth on the grid, after a gutsy performance which saw him clip the wall late on in Q3 – but full credit for effort and commitment. Kind Regards Shaky - Schumi |

Valtteri Bottas - Williams - no time 22. Esteban Gutierrez - Sauber - no time Nico Rosberg replaced Lewis Hamilton as the man to beat on the soft tyres in Practice Three : Hamilton had been leading the way on the medium tyres, however, a swap to the softs saw Rosberg come to the fore. The German driver clocked a 1:29.375 to set the fastest time of the weekend to date. Hamilton tried to fight back but had a slow middle sector and ran off at Turn 9 - as many did - and eventually finished fourth, 1.544s down. Jenson Button was second fastest for Mercedes by was a staggering 1.391s slower than Rosberg while Alonso was third, a further 0.110s off the pace. Daniel Ricciardo was fifth quickest for Red Bull in another solid morning while his team-mate Sebastian Vettel could only manage 12th. Like many out in the final ten minutes, Vettel was caught up by a tail wind at Turn 9 that buffered his car and went him running wide. Nico Hulkenberg had a good morning, bringing his Force India home in sixth place ahead of Kimi Raikkonen, Kevin Magnussen and Sergio Perez. Felipe Massa completed the top ten on a mixed morning for Williams. While he put in 20 laps, team-mate Valtteri Bottas managed just two with his FW36 in need of a gearbox change. As for Friday's troubled teams, Caterham seemed to get it right, both drivers running although neither particularly quick, but it was a mixed morning for Lotus. Pastor Maldonado was able to put in the laps, cover 15 with a best time of a 1:34.754, however, Romain Grosjean did not. On his first lap he reported a misfire, saying "unbelievable", which sent him back into the pits. Out 30 minutes later, he was heard yelling "nothing is solved" in sheer frustration. He did just three laps. Kind Regards Shaky - Schumi |

Pastor Maldonado - Lotus - no time 22. Kamui Kobayashi - Caterham - no time Lewis Hamilton puts Mercedes on top in practice 2 : Lewis Hamilton recovered from a disastrous morning to top the first day of practice for the Formula 1 season-opening Australian Grand Prix in his Mercedes. The 2008 world champion stopped on only his second lap of the first session thanks to a sensor calibration problem, meaning he had not completed a flying lap heading into the afternoon. Hamilton was one of the last of the frontrunners to set a time on fresh Pirelli soft tyres in practice two, waiting until the second half of the session before setting his time. A stunning final sector allowed him to depose Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg at the top of the timesheets by 0.157 seconds. Nobody else was able to get close to Rosberg, who had underlined the strength of Mercedes by setting the fastest time achieved on medium-compound Pirellis earlier in the afternoon. Rosberg looked set to retain his position on the faster rubber after knocking Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo, who was among the earliest drivers to bolt on the softs and briefly went fastest, off top spot at around the halfway mark of the 90-minute session, only for Hamilton to show his pace. Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, who was Rosberg's closest rival on the medium rubber, ended up third fastest, half-a-second off Hamilton. While the Spaniard was unable to match the Mercedes over the full lap, he was the quickest of all in the first sector at Albert Park. Sebastian Vettel rounded out an encouraging first day of the season for Red Bull in fourth overall despite an off-track moment at Turn 1 early in the session having dropped a wheel onto the grass at corner entry. He ended up three-quarters of a second down in fourth place, with team-mate Ricciardo sixth fastest, 0.157s slower than Vettel. Splitting the Red Bulls was three times Australian GP winner Jenson Button, who was fastest in sector two but struggled with understeer. Kimi Raikkonen was seventh fastest, although his session was interrupted by what is believed to have been a gearbox glitch when he was preparing for a practice start. The lead Williams of Valtteri Bottas was eighth overall, 1.3s down, although on medium rubber the deficit to the Mercedes had been around half that. Several drivers had off-track moments during the session, with Kevin Magnussen enduring a bumpy ride after running wide exiting Turn 12 early on and Toro Rosso's Jean-Eric Vergne going straight on at Turn 3 and through the gravel trap. Sauber's Esteban Gutierrez also had a grassy moment exiting Turn 2 while scrapping for territory with Vettel. Late in the session, Nico Hulkenberg locked the rears under braking for Turn 9 and spun into the gravel. Almost simultaneously, Romain Grosjean buried his Lotus in the gravel at Turn 6 after losing the rear under braking and slapping the wall with the left-rear corner. Only 19 drivers were able to set a time, with Kamui Kobayashi's Caterham unable to run thanks to a "power unit-related fuel system issue" that struck in morning practice. Team-mate Marcus Ericsson was at least able to get onto the circuit, but a hydraulics problem on his installation lap forced him to return to the pits and the team was unable to get him back out again. Lotus driver Pastor Maldonado did leave the garage, but was unable to make it out of the pitlane after stopping with a suspected ERS problem that the team did not have time to resolve. This rounded off a dismal day for Lotus, with Grosjean the second slowest of the drivers who did set a time before his late off. Kind Regards Shaky - Schumi Next practice session will be on Saturday morning 04.00u CET till 05.00u ,followed at 07.00u with Qualifying |

Lewis Hamilton - Mercedes GP - no time 21. Marcus Ericsson - Caterham - no time 22. Romain Grosjean - Lotus - no time Fernando Alonso's 2014 season got off to the perfect start as he set the pace in Friday's opening practice in Melbourne while others struggled. Putting in the laps in his F14T, the double World Champion posted a 1:31.840 to edge McLaren's Jenson Button by half a second. Williams drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa were next in line ahead of Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo. Having the better of the running at the reigning World Champions, the Australian driver completed 26 laps with a best time of 1:32.599. It was a marked contrast to Sebastian Vettel's fortunes as the German sat out the first half of the session and only just managed to reach double figures as he covered 10 laps. The good news, though, is his 1:32.793 was good enough for seventh place. Nico Rosberg split the Bulls in sixth while his team-mate Lewis Hamilton didn't even complete a single lap. Billed as the early season favourite, Hamilton broke down on his installation lap and reported to his team: "Car's stopped, some smoke out of the back." Kevin Magnussen was the top rookie in eighth place ahead of Kimi Raikkonen and Jean-Eric Vergne. It was a dismal session for Lotus as Romain Grosjean never made it out and Pastor Maldonado completed just two laps. Caterham also failed to set a time. That's it for now . At 6.30u CET will be the 2nd free practice session ! Kind Regards Shaky - Schumi Ps: as we can see the fastest time so far in this session ( 1:31.840 ) is almost 4 seconds slower as last year |
