Today I want give you an overview of the Sporting-& Technical Regulations for the Season 2011
Sporting Regulation 2011 Minimum weights: 2009-spec cars: 1,050 kilograms 2008-spec cars: 1,025 kilograms A handicap-weight system with changing placement weights isn’t used. Mandatory Pit Stops: In every DTM race, every DTM driver has to come in for two mandatory pit stops to have all the four tyres changed. Scoring System: The points for the top-eight positions are awarded according to the following system: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1. There are neither void results nor extra points for pole positions or fastest race laps. Qualifying: Since the 2009 season, the qualifying session is held in a multi-phase format, comprising four phases. In the fi rst knockout phase, the drivers have got 16 minutes time to set as many fast laps as they like. The fastest 14 drivers advance to Q2 while the four slowest drivers will qualify for the grid position 15 to 18. In Q2, the drivers have got just 11 minutes to clock a fast time. The fastest eight drivers qualify for the third knockout phase of qualifying, the rest has to make do with the grid position 9 to 14. In Q3, the drivers again have got 11 minutes time to outqualify their rivals. The slowest four qualify for grid positions five to eight while the fastest four make it to Q4. This fourth phase differs from the first three. Here, the fastest four drivers go out one by one – in reversed order to the fastest times set in Q3 – for individual time trials, comprising out lap, timed lap and in lap. The times set by the drivers in Q4 are crucial for the grid positions of the fastest four drivers, with the fastest of them securing the pole position. Rankings: DTM comprises two championship rankings. The title ‘DTM Champion’ is awarded the driver with more points on his tally than each of his opponents, while the ‘DTM Team Champion’ title is secured by the team whose two drivers have scored more points than the drivers of any other team Technical regulation 2011 Technology Remains Frozen: For maximum economic efficiency, the enhancement of the vehicles has been virtually fully prohibited since 17 August, 2009. This also applies to the engines that have to be sealed for the entire season since the beginning of 2009. Engines: The regulations stipulate V8 engines with a 90-degree vee-angle, a maximum capacity of four litres and maximum four valves per cylinder. A DTM engine delivers about 340 kw (470 hp). Gearbox: The DTM regulations allow the use of only two different gearbox-differential units that are supplied by the manufacturers Hewland and X-trac respectively. Tyres: From this season, the tyres are exclusively supplied by series partner Hankook. The tyre called ‘Ventus’ is used in the dimensions 260/660 R18 on the front wheels and in the dimensions 280/660 R18 on the rear wheels. Brakes: The carbon-fibre brakes and the brake pads as well as the brake callipers for all the teams are supplied by one manufacturer (AP). During a season, two drivers have to share six sets of brake discs for the front axles and six for the rear. Fuel: The only fuel that may be used is the one (ARAL Ultimate 102) specified for the respective event. Electronics: All DTM vehicles work with a standard control unit supplied by the company Bosch. Data transfer while the car is driving on the track is prohibited. Safety In the cockpit, the driver is surrounded by a carbon-fi bre safety cell. In addition, every vehicle features crash structures at the front and the rear. Furthermore, the use of the HANS system (Head And Neck Support) has been obligatory since 2002. That overview is for people they don´t know the DTM and their regulations. |
