maizie williams
[Versteckter Link - Registrierung notwendig] Maizie Ursula Williams (born March 25, 1951, Montserrat, West Indies) is one of the original members of successful 70s disco music group, Boney M. Brought up in Birmingham, Williams began working as a model, eventually gaining the title Miss Black Beautiful in a contest in 1973. After this initial success she went on to front her own band, Black Beautiful People. She later moved to West Germany with her friend Sheyla Bonnick. One day in 1975, while at a restaurant, the two were approached by an agent who asked if they were interested in joining a new pop group Boney M. "She asked if we could sing. Well, you don't say no, do you," Williams later recalled in an interview. She had previously been singing with a local band back in England but had been told off by her brother Billy: "You have a terrible voice. Better keep working as a walking clothes-hanger." It turned out that it was not important either if Williams could sing or not since the job was to dance and mime to a disco song called "Baby Do You Wanna Bump" that producer Frank Farian had recorded all the vocals for himself but was unable to promote himself since he had a career as a schlager singer in his own name. So Williams and Bonnick teamed up with a girl called Nathalie and a boy called Mike and did a discothek tour and a few TV performances over the next months. Nathalie left and was replaced by Claudja Barry. Sheila then decided that lip-syncing wasn't enough for her and left, hoping to achieve a solo career. Mike left as well, and the two were replaced by new members Marcia Barrett and Bobby Farrell. When Claudja went the same way as Sheila, Liz Mitchell took her place, and finally the pieces fell together: Boney M. were assembled as a real group and ready to do a follow-up to "Baby Do You Wanna Bump". Both Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett were singers and would participate in the group's recordings together with producer Frank Farian doing the deep male voice, and the threesome did the follow-up single "Daddy Cool" which soon became a worldwide hit and launched the group's phenomenal career with several hit singles and albums over the next decade. Williams and Bobby Farrell did not sing on the records since "their voices weren't suited for this particular kind of music" as Farian put it in a Bravo interview in 1978. It didn't create any big scandal - both Williams and Farrell did sing during the group's many live performances during their extensive world tours 1977–1979. Williams remained with the group until the ultimate break-up in 1990. In 1994, she did what her former colleagues Liz Mitchell and Bobby Farrell had also done, she formed her own Boney M group, billed as Boney M featuring Maizie Williams. The group featured Sheila Bonnick from the short-lived original 1975 line-up. Williams herself would finally front as a lead singer in the group's renditions of the hits "Brown Girl in the Ring", "Hooray! Hooray! It's a Holi-Holiday", "Sunny" and "Daddy Cool". It is stated on Williams' official site that "it's no secret that although she sang in the studio Williams' less dominant voice appears to have been mostly excluded from many of the recordings, with the exception of some backing vocals, for reasons only the producer knew at the time"[2]. However, the inner sleeve of the group's Oceans of Fantasy LP, 1979, lists only Farian, Mitchell and Barrett in the track-by-track vocal credits.[3] Maizie did record a minor part for the group's "That's Boonoonoonoos / Train to Skaville" which was also broadcast in the 1981 TV special "Ein Sound geht um die Welt" (A Sound Goes Around the World)[4] but in the final mix released on record, the part was eventually re-recorded by Liz Mitchell. Besides still touring the world, Williams released her first solo record in December 2006, Call Upon Jesus, including the download single "Praise Be Unto Him". In February 2007, she released her own dance version of the Boney M. hit "Sunny". In June, she starred as the featured vocalist on Latvian group Melo-M's version of "Daddy Cool" which hit the #1 spot in the LMK charts in the last week of August. Williams is currently working on a new studio album for release in 2010. The singer faced a court case vs. Boney M. producer and Sony/BMG concerning the rights to perform under the name Boney M. "after hearing that she had not sung on any of the band's recordings".[5] On 16/02/09, Williams had judgement in the case, meaning Farian has to account to her for all record sales and future sales. for vehemencia have a nice lovely siliconed granny hardcore nightmares night |

[Versteckter Link - Registrierung notwendig] Liz Mitchell (born Elizabeth Rebecca Mitchell, 12 July 1952, Clarendon, Jamaica[1]) is a singer, best known as the former lead singer of the 1970s disco/pop band, Boney M. At the age of eleven, Mitchell and her family emigrated to London, England, in 1963. By the end of the decade, she auditioned for Hair and eventually moved to Berlin to join the German cast where she replaced Donna Summer. After Hair, Mitchell joined the Les Humphries Singers for a few years where she had a relationship with Malcolm Magaron. The two left the group to form Malcolm Locks who released the album Caribbean Rocks in 1974 to minimal success. Mitchell, finding her career coming to a standstill, returned to her parents in England. A phone call from fellow Jamaican Marcia Barrett in 1975 persuaded Mitchell to return to Germany to join a new group being assembled by record producer Frank Farian which would become known as Boney M. Though the group's initial purpose was to simply lip-synch for TV and discothèque performances of Farian's song "Baby Do You Wanna Bump", Boney M. soon became a legitimate recording group with Mitchell, Barrett, and producer Farian as the vocal core. Mitchell became widely regarded as Boney M.'s lead vocalist. Farian later stated that "All members (of Boney M.) could be replaced, except Liz". The departure of Bobby Farrell in late 1981 proved this was not entirely true. Although Boney M was largely a Farian vehicle for his own songwriting, Mitchell is credited as co-composer of the Boney M song, "African Moon", which appeared on their album, Boonoonoonoos (1981). Though she did not contribute significantly as a songwriter, Mitchell's vocals are widely regarded as the most distinctive part of the Boney M. sound. Boney M. would disband in 1986, as Farian lost interest in the project. After the group split up shortly after their 10th anniversary in 1986, Farrell convinced Mitchell, Maizie Williams and a replacement for Marcia Barrett to re-group for a tour in 1987. A recording contract for the group was also arranged. When Farrell and the replacement singer failed to show up for the rehearsals, Mitchell and Williams recruited singer Celena Duncan and dancer Curt Dee Daran for the tour. As Williams had never sung on Boney M.'s recordings, Mitchell ended up recording the scheduled album on her own. However, it proved difficult for Mitchell to find a record label to release the album, entitled No One Will Force You. It was released in Spain in the fall of 1988, supported by the singles "Mandela" (a re-work of Boney M.'s 1979 hit "El Lute") and "Niños De La Playa" (Children of the Beach). The latter was also released on Mega Records in Scandinavia where the group did a tour in October. By this point, Williams had been replaced by Carol Grey. At the same time, Simon Napier-Bell had produced a remix album of Boney M.'s greatest hits and wanted the original line-up to promote it. Mitchell reluctantly accepted the offer and Boney M. appeared together again on German TV, even though Mitchell's new line-up still had gigs to play. The success of the remix album led Mitchell to sign her album for a French and Dutch release in 1989, and due to personal differences within the group, she eventually decided to focus on her solo career. Even though Madeleine Davis took her place in the group, Farian eventually called Mitchell back for a second remix album by the end of 1989 and also had her front a new Boney M. line-up for the single, "Stories", as an answer-back to an unofficial Boney M. single, "Everybody Wants to Dance Like Josephine Baker", recorded by the other three with Madeleine Davis, without Farian's approval. In 1990, Mitchell re-formed her 1988 line-up with Patricia Foster replacing Celena Duncan and kept touring the cabaret circuit. In April 1991, she released the single "Mocking Bird", produced by long time Boney M. collaborator, Helmut Rulofs to minimal attention. After three dire years, the success of Boney M. Gold - 20 Super Hits boosted the career of her line-up, entitled 'Boney M. feat. Liz Mitchell', and they were officially approved by Farian to promote the album and the accompanying singles. For the follow-up More Gold - 20 Super Hits Vol. II, Mitchell recorded four new songs. No One Will Force You with two previously unreleased tracks from 1984 was also re-released in Denmark, five years after it was recorded. In 1996, Mitchell and her husband Thomas Pemberton built the Dove House Studios and formed Dove House Records. With a newly founded fan club, Mitchell recorded an EP with four Christmas songs as a special Christmas gift for her fans. In November 1999, Mitchell finally released her album Share the World, which had taken three years to complete. In November 2000, she released the seasonal album Christmas Rose which consisted of partly new material, including the title track, "Lord's Prayer" and "I Want to Go to Heaven" co-written by herself, part re-recordings of Boney M.'s Christmas Album. Mitchell, now a born-again Christian, continued the inspirational path on Let It Be,[2] her fourth solo album, released in November 2004. Just a few months later, the album Liz Mitchell Sings the Hits of Boney M., recorded in Prague, backed by a Czech symphony orchestra, was released. A song recorded in 2006, called "A Moment Of Love", can be found on the compilation album, The Magic of Boney M.. |

[Versteckter Link - Registrierung notwendig] Marcia Barrett was born in St. Catherine - Jamaica. At the age of thirteen she joined her mother (A single parent) in Britain where she continued her schooling, at "Parkside Secondary School" for girls in South London. During those latter years at school she developed her stenography skills and by the age of eighteen, she seeked employment in London with success but was totally bored. Marcia then glanced back on her passion for dancing and singing, whilst attending school and being given LEAD ROLLS in the choir or in plays that were being presented at her school. For example she played the roll of "MACDUFF" in "MACBETH" from William Shakespeare which she totally enjoyed. It was then that she became to her LIFETIME decision, that she would be well appreciated by entertaining and at the same time, she herself would be everlastingly HAPPY within her soul. How perfectly suited for Marcia that when she was 19 years old she was auditioned in London for a dancing project in Germany and was hand picked to perform as a dancer in HAMBURG - HARBURG for a teenaged audience between 4 & 8 p.m. on weekends. It was during her yearly four months presentation for three years as a dancer in "Top Ten Discotheque" that she released herself singing over the famous track "Oh Happy Day" the disc jockey was playing one evening, when the audience gave her a STANDING OVATION. After this evening her presentation as a singer was a usual attraction for the people in and around the HAMBURG - HARBURG neighbourhood. Quite shortly after that Ms. Barrett was approached by a gentleman who was keen in managing her. He was Ernst Hanel, who believed in her skills that he encouraged her to take some technical voice lessons at the Heidi Hoffner School in Hamburg, which lasted a mere three months that she exercises in all her performances up until this day. Mr. Hanel then started to book Marcia`s developed shows all around Germany. During this five year period as an established SOLOIST presenting her shows with her LIVE bands - VALENDRAS and TORNADOS, singing top 40 hits including "Big Spender" from Shirley Bassey and "Son Of A Preacher Man" from Dusty Springfield, she would be described as "The Fire Works" and EXOTISCHE SCHÖNHEIT" from Jamaica. By then she had also commenced her writing skills (as a singer / song writer ) with the tracks "Could Be Love" & B Side "It`s Time To Go" which was published by Metronome record label. The latter part of 1975 Miss. Barrett heard from a dear friend - Dornee Edwards another songstress / songwriter, that there was a producer seeking female vocalists for a new project. Dornee herself was not interested owing to the fact that she was doing GOSPEL and not POP. This producer was Frank Farian who auditioned Marcia with Stefan Klinkhammer in Stafan`s flat in Saarbrucken - Germany. She had sung four songs accompanied on piano by Stefan. Farian loved what he heard from Marcia and stated quite simply that she would work for his creation of the MONSTER group BONEY M. After three decades of extreme success GLOBALLY as a LEAD and BACKING VOCALIST on all of BONEY M`s recordings since 1976 Marcia`s voice is always piercing through on the entire productions. Her visual contribution appearing on "Live Performances" as well as T.V. presentations over these years are indeed enhancing. Marcia is now continuing her mission as a SINGER, PERFORMER, WRITER and PRODUCER. She is back on stage with her team of skilled individual artists and musicians, presenting your favourite EVERLASTING HITS of "BONEY M" and some of her compositions written together with Marcus James. Her presentation with her team is showcasing her voice to the fullest with expertise and professionalism on stage. |
