Cause of the difference using "Du" or "Sie" in German there are rumors Helmut Kohl once said to Ronald Reagan "You can say you to me"

Thanks for this professorial comment . and as usuall , a great job from bellerphon . I tend to believe in humanity and good will of humans to each other. If there are people who have neither the head nor the desire to correct the mistakes of others, it does not matter, but if you take the time to answer in a forum on the quality of the show, Formula 1, music or other subjects, we also have from time to time a moment to correct a text, explain a grammatical rule to help a brother. dazaman wrote:I have now updated the title of the thread so from now on only people who need help can post in this thread, all others will be moved or delete. Thanks dazaman dazaman wrote:"Tonights cast is my favourite" works or "The cast of tonights show is my favourite" Your sentence does not work with the translator. For great results, you write: "Tonight's cast is my favourite" work's or "The cast of tonight's show is my favourite" Basically they can be both used in a sentence that's ok Is this a shorthand write or we must put apostrophes? |

jost54 wrote:I wrote...tonight`s cast is my (liked) cast. Was that correct or should I write....the cast of tonight...? Grammatically, both are correct. However, 99% of English speakers would say "Tonight's cast" :-) . Also, "my (liked) cast" doesn't make much sense, although it's clear what you meant. A more appropriate form would be "I like tonight's cast", or, slightly pleonastic (saying the same thing twice), "Tonight's cast, I like it". |

Thanks for this professorial comment . and as usuall , a great job from bellerphon . This certainly a great idea to start a thread and it reflects the good intention between a group of people to cooperate and to help each other without waiting the return From my side I don't mind at all to have my posts to be quoted and grammatically corrected But to be more realistic ......Does anyone of us has the time and the " head " to follow up the other members' posts and try to show them their grammatical errors .....Just a question Guys if this thread works pretty good (which I stongly doubt ) I will start to feel again that ....We really live in such a wonderful world .....in which the people still have the real intention to come together to cooperate and to help each other in order to achieve a certain aim ... And not in that other place in which everybody gives his back to his brother claiming that he has enough challenges and responsibilities and he even don't has the time to listen . So , in which place we are living ...that's what this thread will show you brothers . |

Having created this thread was a great idea. I am Italian and I am certainly
one of the most loyal customers of this thread, because my English is not the best. I use the Google translator, but since the composition of the sentence is very different in Italian and in English language, sometimes the translator is wrong, I think especially my fault. Surely our friends who speak the English language will give us a great help. Good luck to this thread. Good day at all. passion |
